Hey Guys, I hit Echo yesterday and had a great time. I got a late start and didn’t get out on the ice until about 11:30. Caught 3 within the 1st 45 min. I was on the South side in about 30ft of water. They seemed to hit me either on the way down or up. Used the glow brite demons tipped with a wax worm. Things slowed and I only caught about 2 an hour after that. All were bows and the biggest was an 18 incher. I didn’t have much of a problem with the slush but then again there’s only about 100lbs of me so I was able to walk along the top of him. It was great to get up out of the valley and breath air that I couldn’t see!
Glad you were out on the ice. The weather was great. Three of us were towards the south end also. We started around 10:am in 30 ft. I got 2 little perch in 30 min. So we moved in to 20 feet and got 9 in the next 3 hours. It wasn’t fast but it was fun. I brought home 2 to eat tonight. White or glow jigs tipped with mealworm and green powerbait was the best. The slush wasn’t bad even for 200 lbs. we all got a little sun on our cheeks.![]()
**glad to see you found some fish. i h ave never drilled into that lake, but from the sound of things maybe i ought to check it out. was the camera any help?

Glad my post the other day re: slushy ice conditions did not scare ya from getting out on the hardwater. Seems like ya did pretty good at Echo! That lake has been very good to me this winter too! I also have noticed that the bows will often hit on the drop. There’s some good perchin’ to be had if you’re willing to hike across to the west side (snowshoes are a bonus here). If only Echo would give up just one of those elusive big browns! Might have to hit it on Friday. Thanks for the report!
