My friend and I fished Echo on Mon. and did pretty good. We parked on the north side at the second pulloff. Fished straight out about 150 yards. We brought home 5 trout all together. (missed a lot more…) 2 were 15.5" 2 were 14" and one was about 12" all were nice and fat with no sores. We were in 46’ of water and fishing anywhere from 7-20’ down. All the trout we caught were on nightcrawlers on bigger ice jigs. We also caught some nice fat perch on the bottom. They liked wax or meal worms on a small ice jig. We were using swedish pimples as flashers (about 1.5’ above the jig). The trout were hitting VERY hard and you had to be ready at all times. They would hit hard and then be gone. The perch bite was VERY light. It was weird, the big perch we caught barely would hit, all the small ones would attack it. We started fishing at 7:00 am and left at 2:00 pm. I’d say the best time was from 8-10. All and all it was just steady but we had a great time.
Sounds like you had a blast! How were the ice/slush conditions? We were up there a couple weeks ago & the slush was pretty bad as well as the edges.
There was no slush at all. (except for the edges). Almost got wet when we left…
