Echo Reservoir 2/8/08

Hit Echo today,we were on the East side just north of the Marina about a 1/2 mile. We started at 9:15 a.m. We were fishing in about 25-40 feet of water and were catching them for about the first 45 minutes just under the ice around 10-15 feet down is all. After that though it just died right off. We only caught a couple more in the next 3 hours. So all in all a little slow, but the weather was perfect. Sunny and hardly any wind. The ice was at least a foot thick with about 4 inches of slush under a few inches of snow. HAPPY CATCHING.

A breeze came up and the clouds came in right after you left. We got about 6 more and left at 2:30. We kept 3 each for the fams. Nice sized rainbows and only one perch that Aunt Bob caught.
Got my truck started when I got home - loose battery cable. Went to Auto Zone and got 2 new bolts and “all is swell, all is swell.”

I was with BigSlimmy at Echo. We caught all Rainbow’s suspended and 1 dinky Perch off the bottom. Only missed 2 other Perch. BigSlimmy did not state how much the slush SUCKS. You could walk on the snow but as soon as you started fishing the slush would start building around your feet (4-6 inches of water). The day was awsome.

Sounds like a fun day to me. Thanks for the report.

What were y’all using? I might head up tomorrow. I was thinking of hitting the Berry or the Nelle but sounds like Echo might be a better option.

We were using small tube jigs tipped with meal worms or wax worms. Caught mine using pink jig, the others used white or green. Trout were 12-20 feet below ice.

I’ve hit echo the last three saturdays in a row with great success fishing in 25 feet of water and have killed the trout all were in 10 to 20 feet . the bite was great until about 11:00 and then it just died after that for trout. I could catch perch any time i wanted by going to the bottom but they never had any size to them probably the biggest one i caught was 6 inches

Thanks jhall and aunt bob for the info. I’m heading up today. Kind of a late start but what the heck, the weather is nice. I’ll either catch some fish, catch some rays, or catch a buz.

How did you do at echo?
