Hit Echo (wheatgrass area) this morning with 4 buddies. Most ice was 6"-7" except for an area of clear ice which was 3" (where I drilled-didn’t go on it because it was really slick and why risk it).
Catching was really slow. Only caught 2 perch and 8 trout between the 5 of us. If something came under the sonar we generally caught it but relatively nothing came by! Tried shrimp or wax worms on white, green, orange, pink tubes/maniacs. Most came up from the bottom (24’-40’), 5 were caught about 5’10’down.
Beautiful, cold morning but not much action. Did anyone else who went there do much better? How did you do by the dam?
I was also there yesterday, me and two of my friends fished just south of the boat ramp in about 35’ to 40’ feet of water(guessing) someone borrowed my fish finder last year an when I went to use it this year no power cord
anyway…we caught 7 total really nice fish missed at least that many.
Found all of our fish at 10’ or less 2 fish came from 1’ under the ice, I watched it hit ,pretty cool.not a bad day for only being there for 4 hours, but definitely not fast action by any means.
Glad that I went back a few pages and saw that you got out. That’s disappointing to read though… [:/] I sure have fond memories of Echo from a few years ago when we used to do well every trip. But I haven’t heard a report in several years that’s made it encouraging to head back…
I wished you’d been with us at the Berry. Perhaps you caught my report that we had a real fun trip.
