Anyone know when they close the gates to the Mirror Lake Highway? Also, do they close the road off at all from the Evanston side? I’m hoping to head up this Saturday if possible, looks like the weather should be warming up and melting most of this snow. Any information is appreciated.
I was up there at the very end of September and the road was still very much open, but all the National Forest campgrounds were closed.
I don’t know when but they do close the gate by the Bear River Lodge on the Evanston side.
I am not sure about this year but I drove up there Nov. 17th last year. The gate was open but the road had not been plowed. I am sure you are still good to go.
They close the gates when there is too much snow not a set date. I go up to cut a Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving. Most years the gates are closed. However the gates are occasionally still open if you don’t mind driving in a little snow here and there. They do close the gates from both sides. I wouldn’t worry about this weekend at all.
