Woke-up this morning, and surprise, surprise- the wind wasn’t blowing! Headed out on the lake for a brisk boat ride and the mountains dusted with new snow. Tried trolling and jigging for lake trout for about 2 hours with only 2 hits, zero fish.
Water temps were in the low 50s, so I decided to try my luck for smallmouths near Jarvies. I casted a rainbow colored jerkbait and picked up a half dozen 1-2 lbers plus a couple of bonus rainbows. While working the shoreline, I also found a pretty big concentration of bows in 30-40 ft of water. I tied on a white “Tubedude” special jigging spoon, tipped it with pink Gulp salmon eggs, and couldn’t keep them off. I hooked and landed 12 bows before the wind started to howl, signaling the end of my day on the water. Rainbows ranged from 14-20 inches. It was a successful day of fishing, but when this weather stabilizes it’s going to just get better…

Beautiful fish!!! That will be a picture to cherish for a lifetime… I was just looking over some pictures of my son efishing when he was small. Now he’s almost 16 and I have to compete with the girls and buddies to get him to go fishing… Enjoy it while you can Ash… My boy wants to catch a big laker so I guess we’ll have to pull off the walleye and spend some time at the gorge and learn how to catch them…
that fish looks like it had him spooooked. he holds 30 pounders with a smile. that must have beeen pushin the 40 mark. great pic,s as always ash. i printed this pic for my office at home. and to rub codys face in it. lol now he will realy be jellous of his litle buddy and buggin me even moore to get him up there.
