Last minute trip to the Lindon boat harbor last night turned out to be a lot of fun. We arrived about 5 and drove over to the north dike and started fishing for the night. Not much action just a few crappie now and again hitting yellow jigs.

Around 7:30 or so the white bass moved in and the fun really began until a little after 9. Almost every cast had a hit with hookups on most. The only problem was that they were all around six inches. We caught several in the 14 inch range but the rest were about six inches. My pole with a minnow finally took off hard and after a nice fight brought in a 19 inch white bass that made the 14 inch ones look like the six inch ones. He was a beast. Just before we left something almost pulled my pole in the lake and broke off my line before I ever saw it. I think it was a large cat not a bass though.

Only saw one cat caught all night and that was on shrimp from a group just down from us. It was probably about a four pounder.

Haven’t caught that many White bass in one night in a long time. Can’t wait until they grow up some. What a way to completely wear out a brand new jig.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Do they only come in in the evening or is there a pretty solid morning bite as well.

A 19 INCH WHITE IS A TROPHY FISH. IVE NEVER SEEN ONE THAT SIZE. 17 WAS THE BIGGEST. GOOD ON YA.

:sunglasses:That sounds like a ton of fun, spyder. I think I might take my tube down there tomorrow or Sunday p.m. Nice report, but too bad that big guy broke you off. Sounds like it’s time to invest in some heavier line for that lake next time for ya…

That there could have been a state catch and release record.

White bass will bite any time of the day. I used to fish for them several times a week as a kid and if I could get to the lake they were there. That was in the 80’s when there were more of them but still once you found them they would bite. I have caught triple didgits of them at almost every hour of the day or night. As a kid it seemed like finding the fish and the right color for the day was more important then the time of day.

The red itchy welt on my arm says there were some blood suckers in the mix. I’m sure it will only get worse now that the warm weather is here.
