Decided to give the soft water a try for a change, and took the boat out to see if I could find any early season walleye. No such luck on that, but I did manage to find some very nice sized bluegill and crappie. I landed 22 bluegill (all between 8 1/2 - 10 1/2") and 5 crappie (between 7-10"). I did hook into one largemouth, but he spit the hook at the boat. The one amusing event of the trip was when I had a fish break my line (must have had a nick in it[crazy]), and took my jighead and bobber setup. About 5-10 minutes later I saw my bobber resurface in the reeds. So, I paddled over there quietly and grabbed it. It ended up just being a nice bluegill, but I was glad to know what it was, and to get my setup back (he is in the second pic).

WOW! I know they ain’t walleye, but great gills! Would you be open to PMing me about how you do that? I love getting into panfish like that, and little girl does, too!

Nope, wasn’t me. I was solo today, and went straight from my house in Orem to the lake.

Thanks man. Let me know when and where, and we will get on it. I just got back from a week long trip to Florida visiting the in-laws and fishing. Just couldn’t convince myself to hit the ice after fishing with no shirt in 75-80 degree weather. Hopefully the eyes start up soon. I know a few have been caught. I may try again this evening.
Nice Job on the panfish bud. I was also out on Sunday in the new boat looking for something that would bite had one that took some cut bait but lost it as soon as I said get the net. I think it was a channel. No walleye or whites but had fun in the new boat.
