Three of us went to Strawberry today. We drove down to the Soldier Creek area but turned around and fished about a mile or so east of The Ladders just as the fog was beginning to lift.
We found a spot with water depth ranging between 11 and 30 feet. We started in a spot about 25 ft deep. We all got a few light taps here and there but no hook ups. I had one “playing” with my olive green split tail jig tipped with wax worms and the jig head smeared with sparkle Power Bait. I pulled it out of its mouth twice before I finally got it hooked. The ultra light tapping kept up for a while longer and then just turned off. We changed rigs and depths for the next few hours but got nothing more than sunburned faces.
Still, a nice day. Better than work – and I like my job.
Amen my face still hurts a little, still better than working better luck next time.

You shouldn’t of turned around from soldier creek side! I was there had a alright day had to move around abit but between me and friend we caught 5 cuts biggest being 20" and 3 rainbows keepers 16"-18" but we too got sunburn faces Ouch!!
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you access the soldier creek side? Is the road to the main soldier creek ramp clear or do you need a snowmobile to get in? Could you get a 4 wheeler in there?
Sorry for all the questions, thanks for any answers.
i went to the soldier creek side last sat 31st and sunday 1st. instead of turning to go to the berry marina you go past that turn off and go past the ladders you won’t be able to see the berry any more and you’ll go up a hill and on the other side you’ll see a parking lot on the right hand side. thats where i pulled over on saturday. and i walked in it was a hike but worth we (2 people) iced 8 bows all between 17" and 20". sunday i went but took a snowmobile this time. i saw all snowmobile tracks on sunday and saw 4 wheeler tracks that left the parking lot and saw where they made it 50 yards or so and that was all you could see where their tires dug down in the snow a foot and floored it till they couldn’t go any farther.
saturday i was in about 30 feet of water. i think you can drive past where i pulled off and there’s another pull off spot but i saw one ice hut over there but i know nothing about that. where i was i only saw snowmobiles. there’s what i know hope it helps. and don’t worry about “all” the questions people on here are pretty friendly and tend to answer all of mine so far. good luck and any other info just ask i’ll be glad to tell you what i know.
keep on fishin!
