The Mrs. is heading down to St. George next week to see some friends and is insisting that I come along. She said if I came along, that I could do whatever I wanted during the day while they play. . .
I have not fished near St. George, and don’t see too many reports from Sand Hollow, Quail Creek, or Gunlock.
I need some thoughts from those more acquanted with the area on where I stand the best chance. I’m not planning to take the boat so I am limited to shore fishing (unless someone has room for one more on 4/1 )
BFTers of Southern Utah, is Sand Hollow, Quail Creek, or Gunlock a better destination for shore fishing early in April?
I’ve done quite well for large blue gill at sand hollow in the early summer. Usually in the middle of the day. I’ve had luck at Quail too, though I haven’t fished it as much. If the bass are still up spawning, you may be able to find them up shallow. Or if you hit it early in the morning. I’ve never done well at Gunlock, but I haven’t fished there very often either.
Stay away from Gunlock, not much for fish in there. I would spend my time on Quail Creek for Bass. 3/4 of the way down on the west side north end, go down the steep bank and to the waters edge, throw out a dark colored senko/single tail grub/split tail grub 6" and drag it back slow, you can tap it a little but not alot. You should hook into some nice bass. Remember to pratice CPR catch picture and release… good luck..
well i live down here in st.george the commutiy ponds are good for bass i fish them all the time right now u got four pond to fish . sand hollow the bass are still little deep but all depends on the weather .
What can you tell us about the community ponds? I will be there next week also. Are they in town?
Do you need tags to fish them?
I have also found there doesn’t seem to be lots of info about that part of the state here.

I went to Quail Creek today and no luck. In town for work and hoping for something but didn’t happen. I will try the local pond tommorrow. Hope that is better.
