Decided to hit East Canyon today by myself, man what a tough day it was. Hit the lake about 9am at the Marina. Walked to the far side near the dam where I’d done fairly well past weekends, tried depths from 17ft to 40ft. drilling around 12 holes all over the place. I was only able to bring one 15.5" to the top, with one other bite in 3 hours. Decided to head home about 12ish after everything was soaked and I was numb to the core! It was definitely a cold wet day out, dropped about 2" of wet heavy snow while I was there. Anyone else out there have better luck then I?
Thanks for the report, I really wanted to head that way this weekend but couldn’t get away for long enough. Glad I didn’t make the trip after all.
looks like some tube-dude-ry jigs there. nice whities - almost like a frosty snowman!
Thanks for the report. Sorry the trip was tuff, and the fish were tight-lipped. But at least you scared away the skunk monster, even if you fell prey to the slushmonster!
+1 I fished in a group of three and we only managed to get four on the ice.[pirate] We had transportation so we moved around alot, never found the honey hole. Oh-well, at least we got out.
Sorry about the tough day. On the plus side though You did manage to get one with all its fins.[crazy]
Update still slow. Hit the marina today (saturday) moved around a lot shallow, deep, and in between. No fish on the finder. Couldn’t find any fish that you could try different lure, bait ex… Ya i got skunked 8:00 am-2:00 pm
Bummer! I was gonna head up there monday. How’s the ice conditions?
Anybody been down to Taylor’s hollow lately?
MB72 hows was your trip to E.C ? Either heading there or to the Rock on fri. Egdes still holing up ??
I was at Taylor’s Hollow today from about 8-11am. It was REALLY SLOOOOOW… only Iced one and had a handful of hits. Not sure if it was because of the storm coming in, but it didn’t seem anyone else around us was catching any either. We moved from 15’ to 80’ of water and tried all different depths and jigs. All my hits and the one I iced were on ice flies tipped with shrimp..
Edges were solid when we left, no issues.
Hit EC early and did fair, nothing to brag about normally but after reading your report maybe I could brag! Went west from Taylors Hollow. My boys each caught 3, I caught 4. Fished in 18-30’ of water, caught from 6’ to 20" deep. Slow in general but still brought home fish. Best bite was around 7:30-9:00 a.m. and about 10-11 a.m. Shut off after that. Tried by the dam in the early afternoon, only one fish that got away at the ice.
As mentioned, edges were good. Saw eagles eating on a dead deer out on the middle of the lake. Have no clue how that deer got out there so far, looked like a fairly recent kill by the bright red blood.
