Lots and lots of animals up there, very cool seeing them so close. You might have already mentioned this but did you drive by the giant lake in the upper part of BC. I want to say it’s called the great Slave lake, I think it is one of the largest lakes in BC
Slave is in Alberta, we went by a couple of huge lakes along the Alcan. Williston is the biggest and we dove past the southern end of it out of Prince George heading to Dawson Creek on the way up
It has been so many years ago, that I just don’t remember the name, could have been Williston but it was huge and we did drive down the Southern end, I was just amazed that a lake that big and not a single boat on it or even someone fishing from shore, that I could see from that location.
There was 1 lake up by the BC/ Yukon border that was sooooo long it was crazy, we stayed at a park at the northern end and the owner said that there were 5 lakes connected and you could go miles on the water. Like you I was surprised that we didn’t see any boats on the lakes
I bet that was it, it sounds like the same location.
Visited the Fish Creek Observation Site yesterday only to find no salmon or bears, decided to rum up to the Salmon Glacier to see it. Well worth the drive and the view was stunning. Talking to a couple locals that were at the overlook there was a glacial outflow flood that occurred the day before and the big blue crack in the glacier wasn’t there. Water levels in the Salmon River were very high. See the US Forest Service picture for what happened to the observation deck this am. Today we stopped at a 1st nation village to see all the totems, quite a collection but light was all wrong for getting good pictures. All I’ll say is they have a great piece of history/ culture that would show much better if they cleaned up the area

Great pics of the totems and glacier. Can’t say I’ve saw many of the ones with animals while I was up there. Did they say why they thought the glacier opened up like that?

I think the water undercut the whole end to the right and it broke and part of it dropped,
in the pic you can see where the lake was with white circular ring before it drained.
Hard to get a prospective from your pic, is the right side the downriver or lake part? So, the flooding occurred to the right?
No that’s where the lake was, in the pic attached here, it’s the arm that goes to the right off the main flow of ice. The bottom of the glacier is to the left
That would be scary rafting down that river. In that one pic, second from the last, is that a raft that has turned over?

The 2nd picture down on the left of the 2 logs is for lowering rafts down so they don’t have to run those falls
