met up with new fishing buddy aquaman for last ice trip of the year. went to pineview lauched at stringtown road right at dawn. ice on edges a little shaky but didnt need a plank. walked to spot a fellow angler reported sucess at night catching crappies. ice conditions were 8 in of frozen slush, 3 in of not frozen slush, then 8 in of solid black ice. fishing was hot if you like catching 4in perch lol. not my cup of tea, but it was good to get out . fished in 40 to 45 feet of water. could see fish suspended about 15 ft below the ice, the crappie im guessin. couldnt get them to bite jigging or dead sticking it. used a small jig tipped with waxworm or small piece of dead perch. left pretty early between the dink perch and it getting warm outside. i wouldnt try it again on the ice this year. fishing wasnt hot but met a new angler so trip was a sucess in my book!
