I met up with an ice newbie i met on another forum and headed to pineview around 11 am. Got to the CP parking lot and headed out on the wheeler to the narrows. Got set up in the same place as last night and caught 3 real nice perch in about 10 minutes. Missed a few other hits and then it died! I drilled 15 holes at various depths trying to find active fish but they never showed up. We fished andstuck it out until around 2pm when he had to leave. I ran him back tot he parking lot and headed back out. I packe dup my gear and headed further east towards CP. I drilled a hole and dropped down my pimple. Instant hit and a 9" crappie on the ice. Sweet i thought, i found them. WRONG! Fishe dthere for another hour without any more hits. I got packed up again and started heading back to the truck. I then decided to try ONE more spot. I stopped, drilled a hole and sent the pimple down. Marked fish right away and this time they were very agressive. I nailed a 10" perch right off followed by 5 more up to 9". Then the crappies came through. Over the next 1 1/2 hours i caught 15 crappies and a few more small perch. I lost 6 fish about 10’ off the bottom. Probably crappies by the fight.
Ice is still 14" or better but in 2 places i drilled today there was a 3" layer of slush/snow under a crust that is about 3" thick. If the temps climb, it is going to be a mess up there. Access is great and easy walking for the most part.![]()
