[frown] Just got back from fishing at pelican lake yesterday. The fishing was great but the catching was pretty slow for us. The weather man was right on the crappy weather.
We got on the water about 11:00 am and had to get off about 30 minutes later because of rain and lightning. It rained good for a while then stopped but another storm was following up that one. The storms seemed to be going around and around the wind was constantly changing directions.
We fished off of the bank until 4:00pm then got the boat back out. We caught one good size bass off of the bank a 17"er and the rest were smaller. Out on the water the fishing was’nt much better but caught a few more small bass and a bluegill. We were trying for bass and did’nt kill them but had a great first time out on the boat.
The water temp was 64.5 first time on the boat and pulling out at 7:30pm it was 61 to 62 degrees. There were plenty of fish on the finder just bad cold winter weather seemed to have them lockjawed. It was cold enought that we had on the winter clothes I’m sure the next warm day they will be hitting great. Some other guys said when it was warm before the stom the fishing was hot. Well just have to go again, can’t wait pelican lake is always a favorite for me to fish.
Maniac salt stick baits and curly tails were the productive ones for us. Good luck fishing
Thanks for the report. Maybe one day i will fish that lake.[;)]
