Otter Creek 1-26-08

So we got up to Otter Creek today about 11:00 AM. We hit the SE side about 75 yards out and right off the bat we layed into them. We were in about 15" to 25" of water and were catching them mostly just under the ice about 10-15 feet down is all. Between the three of us and 5 little kiddies we caught around 30-35 nice fish. Around two I landed a nice hog that ran about 23" and 5-6 lbs I would guess. Sun was out and skies were blue, temp around 30 degrees. A great day out with my family down here in S. Utah. Pictures to follow. The first photo is of my niece and I. The 2nd is my Sis,bro-in-law and niece and the 3rd is another of the big one again. Thanks for reading, good luck to everybody!! Happy catching!!

Ice must be pretty thick for that pickup to be out on it . Nice Pics :sunglasses:

Nice fish Rob. Too bad it’s not contest time at Fish Lake!!!

Good on ya, Rob! What were you using? Bring those to Fish Lake and pop 'em under the ice while no one is looking!
I endured 2.5 hours in Logan at my daughter’s cosmetology school - $1 haircuts and hair coloring for my wife. I had more fun sitting outside in the sun watching the snow melt!

Let’s get out next Friday! Bring whatever good luck charm you had at Otter Creek!

NICE FISH!!!

Nice fish, perfect weather for the kiddos. It looks there were alot of people out there today. Was everyone else catching fish?

BEAUTIFUL bows!! Looks like he bit a little white marabou from the last pic? was it tipped with something?

Welcome to the BFT and great pics man those are some nice fish. Its good to see the kids with those big grins. I am gonna have to make it down there soon!

White truck, behind his brother-in-law? Ain’t on the ice. It’s on a slight rise, above the water level. It looks like there was a little bit of water around the edges. Did anybody get their feet wet?

Glow in the dark white cutterbugs and gitd white maribou type jigs I got from crappielures. Some green sparkly paddle bugs also. Mostly white though, and mealies seemed to be the ticket.

Me and my dad also fished Otter Creek Saturday morning and what a day. We got out on the ice about 7:30 and it was -6 degrees. Thankfully it warmed up a bit, but the fishing was fantastic. We fished the north east side in seventeen feet and caught fish at al depths, but mostly right under the ice. I even lost a pole down my hole. I guess the trout couldn’t resist maniac’s new gizzy bugs. In all we caught about 40 fish between the two of us. They averaged about sixteen inches but we a caught a couple over twenty. Like BigSlimmy said, the meal worms seem to be the key. I caught fish on just about anything, the most succesful was a two inch glow in the dark maniac minnow. Great day.

Hey Rob, are you sure that little girl did’nt catch that fish? HE HE[;)] Nice fish!

Het Gregger, long time no hear. When are you gonna’ drag a brother up to the Gorge with ya’ ? Yeah, my nieces caught plenty of fish that day. I did turn the big one loose for the next person to enjoy. Im such a good guy… We did keep about ten to cook up though, threw them in the oven with some dill, red onions, lemons and spices. damn they tasted good!! See you at bball.
