I have a chance to go down to Sandhollow this weekend, and while the water is still probably pretty cold, I thought I would bring the float tube and try to do some fishing. Can anyone give me some help for fishing some cold water bass or really any kind of advice for fishing Sandhollow?
I asked the same question last year at this time.
I go to St. George the first week in March every year.
Back last year, I was told that the bass fishing would be real slow and it was suggested that I try fishing Quail Creek Reservoir along with or instead of Sand Hollow.
Quail has Trout in it and this could make the trip a lot more rewarding.
I never made it to either reservoir last year though.
I found myself having a great time at the St, George Community Ponds.
There are bass and trout in these ponds and I caught a lot of nice fish including a whopper Rainbow that was over 25" long!
It was a planter from the brood ponds but it sure was a nice fish.
It was nice to get some of the rust off of my fly rod while I was there.
I still don’t know if I will take my toon with me this trip or just fish the Community Ponds again.
At least at these ponds, I know that I will catch fish.
I’ll be down there by the last week in March. I’d fish it, if nothing else you should be able to hammer bluegills and they are tasty. I’ve never even been there so this will be a learning trip for me. I was hoping you’d get a lot of responses to this post.
end of april first of may. Sandhollow should be awesome. You should be catching alot of big bass. I was catching them from shore. Just sight fishing.got to get threw alot of small bass to get the bigger ones. brandon
