We were looking for some fast action and Mill Meadow did not disapoint us. We arrived at the boat ramp and drilled a series of exploratory holes and checked them out with the Vexilar. At first it was looking bleak, but then the hole closest to shore showed tons of fish in 12’ of water. We drilled more holes, set up shop, and it was game on. The perch were even hitting our offerings with no bait. We caught around 40 perch, but I didn’t bother with an exact body count. Only one trout showed up; it was a 13" rainbow. The perch displayed a definite preference for small ice flys rather than our larger jigs.
Ice is over a foot thick, and the temperature is COLD.
