I decided to hit Jordanelle to get the taste of skunk out of my mouth. First, my fishing partner flaked out so I went solo. One block from my house my boat came off the hitch. I now know the safety chains work now!!! I missed the rock cliff arm turn off so I lost more time. [frown] I finally got to the the boat ramp at the rock cliff area (and yes the water is high enough to launch) I disconnected my boat and set it up. The ramp is very narrow and steep, so is other words no visibility and and no room for errors. At the bottom of the ramp two guys were fishing on the boat ramp. I don’t care if they do this even though its against rules AS LONG AS THEY GET OUT OF THE WAY FOR BOAT LAUNCHES, after all that is why they are there! I was backing down verify carefully so I would not run them over. My other boat tire left the ramp and the trailer hit a rock and came to a dead stop, unfortunately the boat did not. My boat came to a slow skid on the concrete knocking my trolling motor off and ripping a large hole in my fiber glass. It also caused considerable damage to the hull. I was going to report them but I new they would vandilise my truck while I was fishing so I let it go. I spent 2 hours using my car jack to jack the boat up on dead round logs untill i could get it back on my trailor. The two first class gentlemen did not offer to help and did not say sorry
The water temp was 56 degrees and I saw tons of yellow perch being caught (only 4-5 inches though). I think the perch are making a come back. I ended up with two fish for all my effort!!! oh and I also lost $40 bucks in lucky craft [frown] To top it all off i was pulled over for burnt out trailor lights. The female officer was very polite and did not give me a ticket. She also wrote down my phone number. Maybe she wants to handcuff me later. [;)] yeah baby. Please help I need a good fishing trip. PM me with all your secret spots, please lol
Happy Day huh? Well at least you did not get skunked but that was a very tough day, imo. I hope you are able to get your boat repaired[:/]. If it was me, I think I would have ask them to move instead of running off the ramp but that’s just me[;)]. Hope your next fishing trip works out better than this one did.
I overestimated my boat launching skills. I like to learn everything the hard way. [:(]
Man, that’s awful! Sorry the forces of the universe were against you that day. Talk about an expensive trip, aside from the horrible day use fee at the 'Nelle.
I hope you can make up for all of that on your next trip.
Thanks man
Heres a little secret. I dont unhook the safety hook or winch strap until the boat is close to the water. Everything else is ready to go…It only takes about 45 seconds to get out and unhook. If everybody else is too impatient for that long…well thats tough I guess. Im not tearing up my boat for anyone!
That is why I sold my boat and fish from a kick boat. I feel your pain.
Thats what I plan on doing from now on!
