it’s been slim picking this year for ice fishing so you are more than welcome to post your report here by the way, I split your report and it is posted on the Idaho board now too, so they can benefit from it too. There is one Glendale report there too, if your looking for another place to fish there in Idaho. With the warmer weather in the forecast, I’m not sure how the ice will hold up there but it might be worth checking out. Thanks for posting your report, any size to the bows and cutts you caught? Not exactly sure what you meant by cars drifting onto the ice, if that is the case, it must have been scary to watch, knowing one of them could drop trough at any moment.
Hit weston yesterday. Got there late around 11 and fished until around 5. Ice was about 6 inches 4 of clear 2 of cloudy near the dam. Didn’t venture much further. Fishing was fairly slow. Managed 5 rainbows all between 12 and 16 inches. White paddle tail with red flecks worked great in 8 fow. Large jigging motions seemed to work best. Edges were looking really soft in some areas. Best to take a plank if you go.

Thanks for the report, glad you were able to get out and catch some fish. Any pan fish?
None. I have only fished it twice but I can’t seem to find the perch there.

Did you notice if anyone else were catching any?
It was only us by the dam. There was one tent in the middle, and a group on the west side of the reservoir. Pretty empty considering it is one of the few places with ice left.

With that warm weather we had, I’m surprised the ice is holding up as good as it is, glad you got out there before it got too warm.
Well guys I apologize for not being on the site. The lack of ice has been terrible. Finally got out to chase some last weekend. Went to Hawkins reservoir in Idaho. There was about 4 to 5 inches of ice with cars drifting on it while I was trying to fish… some brave or dumb souls I guess. The fishing was alright. Just fished the afternoon and caught about a dozen between both of us. Mostly rainbows and a cutthroat. Fished 5 to 15 fow.
Not sure its the place to post about Idaho, just thought I’d throw it out there. Looking to go again tomorrow. Maybe I’ll explore another lake in Idaho.
Once again I apologize for the absence. Good luck and be safe to my fellow ice guys!
Wonder if that will still be there safe by the weekend? Got my Idaho license I ought to try it again and see if I can keep from being skunkedagain on that pond… Later J
