Hyrum + me + friend = ??????

Went to Hyrum this morning - third time this week. This was the best trip yet, as far as numbers go. Wednesday morning I went with a friend and landed about 25 trout and 25 perch. Went back Wednesday Eve with some other guys and we just caught a bunch of trout.

This morning I was the first on the ice. Took about 20 minutes for the bite to get hot. But then it was on. I landed 64 trout and my buddy, who showed up a couple hours after me, landed 36. No real size to any - averaged about 14 inches. It was a fun morning for us. I didn’t get any pics because I didn’t keep any. People all around us were catching fish. As long as it was tipped with something, the bite would come.

Thanks for the report, sounds like a fun morning. Was there any size to the perch you caught wednesday?

We kept about 10 that were 6-7 inches. Caught plenty of smaller Ines though.

Hey Ben, what time did you get there this morning? Great job on the slam!

We hit Mantua for a quickie - son’s first ice trip - with the new tent. Thanks to BFT!! Didn’t do much for fish, but was warm and comfy - with hopes for future outings!

I think I was the second on the ice at Hyrum. Meant to come bang on your tent, but once I got camp settled - I was too busy to turn my head. You had your dog, no?!

Got the new tent out there, popped it up, didn’t even fire the heater for quite some time. Between the hike out, and turning the holes, plenty warm.

Finally got the lines in, tent on the holes, camera tuned in, and it was on. Had poles jangling b4 I was ready. Seemed like the trout were schooling, and zooming through an area - nice group, hitting everything in site, then moving on. Only to come back again in 10 or 15 mins. So when the hit- they all hit. Had multiple doubles - too much to deal with!

Several wrapped around the camera line, and a number broke off right at the hole. Several lures+ claimed by the spirit of the lake. Retribution!
Picked up a couple perch. One - with the camera - never would have seen a fiddle in the spring - but nab-it! Gotm.
Pretty much claimed my 4 on trout, then toyed with probably a dozen more landed. Plenty more hooked and missed. Fun Tugs!

I had one - second of a double - landed the first, then turned to the other rod - that sucker fought, took line - wrassled and wrangled - and - - - ultimately broke off. I was on One of Those!
Heard some guys hooked into a 6-lber - mid-lake. Nice!

Things seemed to die off towards midday. There were still the occasional visits, as a school goes, the school does. Seemed like the perch were following the trout, and looking for sloppy seconds. Some loners out for a treat, but then the troustskies would come bully them off. Fun to watch!

Though the ice sang all kinds of songs on the way back - between a snowmobiler, and 3 wheeler- seemed pretty good ice. 4-6inches most places. But the bubbles be talking! Kinda freeky.

I am planning to hit it again tomorrow. Though I’m really thinking about checking out the docks, SW corner - basically -targetting more perch.

Awesome report thanks for sharing! Were you able to get into any tiger trout?

Way to go Coyote!! Looks like I missed out! This inversion is doing a number on me.

I didn’t realize that was you at Mantua. I watched your son take that pic with the little gill. I was heading off the ice with my dog and buddy and his kid.

I was busy today too. It was fun. I would like to get into a lunker out there.
