Hello all, my first post here. I have used the forums quite a bit and thought it was time to give some info in return.
Saturday the 19th 5 of us left the Strawberry Bay Marina towards Haws Point and fished in 45 ft of water a couple hundred yards from the point. From 7 – 10 am 2 of us caught 13 fish. From 10 on it slowed and I only hooked one more, the other gents fired up and caught 11 more in the afternoon and evening. Bites were “light” but steady throughout the Day. All were in the 17 to 22” range and released without incident. The joke of the day was that one fish had figured out we were “releasing gently” and decided to stay for the buffet. One fellow landed a 4” crawdad, talk about jigging the bottom.
We were all fishing various sized jigs with mealworms, maggots or earthworm chunks. My little tough guy seemed to be the ticket in the morning.
I have read several posts about not recommending ATV’s, and the notorious “slush monster”. I have to say, the monster was more of a tame “putty tat”. Slushy areas were easy to avoid and our 4x4 wheelers made it out and back with no issue or effort. The parking lot on the other hand was quit monstrous J
