Ha Ha Haws point

Drove over to Haws on the strawberry luge road.
The ice made a constant sound for the 1st hour we were there in addition to the cracking and pinging..
Punched a dozen holes and only caught one 14 inch bow. Nothing on the fish finder either. Maybe it was too noisy for the fish.
Ice still solid. A pressure ridge runs about 15 ft out from the shore all the way up and down the bank. Don’t think you could safely get across it.
Looked like the island heading towards Renegade had open water from the springs.
Someone had taken a ATV along the shore line on the ice without any trouble.
Weather great with some wind.

Don’t you think since the DOT has had a mild winter and since they have a road shed so close to the strawberry road that they could make one pass in and out to sand and salt the luge road. With all the warm weather this week the road could be cleared.

That is the last thing UDOT would ever do[;)]. Maybe they are happy about this winter after the avalanche control cost of last year. Sorry you only got 1 fish…that is my typical experience at the berry. I get the impression you did not cross the pressure crack? I bet the fishing was better on the other side of the crack[;)]. Just run like a logger next time[;)]. Thanks for your post.

Yeah, having UDOT plow it would be nice, but it is not a state road, and they don’t plow it. It’s a FS Road like the other two that connect to the lake at the Berry. We drove over the “luge road” to the Meadows on Monday. coming out a truck slid off the road coming down the hill just south of Bryants fork. One snow storm and those of us fishing the south end of the reservoir are done unless we have a machine to get us over there on the ice…

Yep… just run like a logger [;)] it works trust me [sly]

Wildcat and myself fished haws point yesterday and caught 30 in about 3 hours … the would come through in pods and them be gone.. best depths was 26 ft. , we also fished renegade in the morning and the fishing was poor!

i went to indian creek in my CAR yesterday road wasnt that bad did fine in the honda accord just got to go slow and becareful got pic’s to never be able to do it again this time of year

Fished Renegade yesterday also, on the ice around first light! Fish were nowhere to be found. Tried shallow 9 ft, 18-20 ft, 37 ft. punched holes all over. Few other groups fishing as well. The other groups moved around also and left. Sounds like UTcatman and Wildcat was one of thr other groups. Me and the kids stayed till about 2:30 pm and called it a day.Saw very few fish on the finder all day. Fish would come through, stay around for a few minutes and be gone. Long periods of nothing but a blank screen. My 6 yr old outfished me again. We ended up with about dozen caught, didnt keep count the action was way… way to fast and furious to keep an accurate count!! A fun day with my two little ones, warm temps with a slight breeze most of the day!

While I was at Haws on Saturday, some guy tried to cross the ridge and went in to his knees. Not safe at all!
