Fished at the marina yesterday morning/afternoon. I got a late start and did not start fishing until 9:30. When I first started fishing there was nothing on the scope and no bites for about an hour. After that I started moving around. My shoulders are sore from the number of holes I drilled, but i finally found them at 40-50 feet deep. Right off the bottom. I noticed numerous fish on the flasher coming up off the bottom to inspect my lure just to go back to the bottom. Changing lures did not seem to change things. Some of them did bite and I ended up with 9 total. All of them were in the slot, which I was glad of when I got home and did not have to clean fish.

On a side note, I decided to go fishing on Thursday because it appeared from the forecast that there would be a possible change in the weather. I have a GPS unit that can read and graph barometric pressure. The pressure peaked at 11 and then began to drop. That is when I started catching fish. The fish seemed to quit about the time the barometric pressure bottomed out.

Good to hear you had success. We are heading up in the storm tomorrow and hope we can make to the marina in 1 pc. I think I have a barometer read out on my new gps as well, I will have to keep an eye on that this time

Thanks for the post. How was the slush out there? Im going to fight the storm and give it a shot this weekend but didn’t know if it would be worth draging the four wheelers up or not? I hate the slush monster!!! Thanks

Thanks for the report. I am heading up there in the morning. Do you think theres ANY way I get over to haws on a wheeler? Please say yes!! [:/]

The slush was not that bad. In fact, there was none really. The ice is double layered. There is about 5 to 10 inches of snow on top of one layer, then there is a small layer of slush and then there is several inches of solid ice. I was walking on snowmobile tracks to make it easier (is it too much to ask those guys to drive in a straight line? ) I can’t really say whether you 4 wheeler will ride on that first layer of ice or not, but if it were me I would give it a try. When it is slow like this I think it is best to be as mobile as possible.

We fished all over the lake yesterday on ATVs - from the ladders to the old dam site & out into the middle. There is 5 - 6 inches of dense snow on the ice. It was difficult to get around; however, not impossible. Good tires will be helpful, had to keep the rpm’s up to travel. It is a lot easier if you can find an old track to follow. It appeared like there was an airboat on the lake several days ago that has pack the snow really good. If you are lucky you might be able to get on one of these tracks.

You would not have a problem getting to Haws Point yesterday. Not sure what today’s rain has done to the snow?

40 - 50 feet, Well, I will have to give it a try tomorrow when the catching slows down in 25’ of water. Thanks for the report

NoBites, Are you sure you don’t want me to give your dog a ride to the Berry tomorrow ?

Thanks for the report, I am heading up tomorow with two kids and hope to get them into some fish.
