Anyone been up to the gorge lately?? I hear the fishing is hot up there right now for everything except bass. Im gonna be heading up next weekend for my birthday. Probably gonna be staying around the sheep creek/kingfisher island area. Has anyone camped on kingfisher island? Do the 8 campsites get full often?? Also interested in what lures/color patterns work well for trolling macs.
i wish i had some advise, im headin up tomarrow to try to hook into some smallies.. fishing report said its good bss fishing but ive heard its rough .. im just hoping the reports are right.. ill let you know after this sunday what we had success on tho
sounds good, thanks
we fished the utah side this weekend and trolled some flashers and curly lures with absolutely no luck.. nota bit all day until we headed in. i was throwing a crankbait against the rocks for a last chance redemption fish and got one the first cast.. marina held some realdecent bass but overall i have no advise, sorry man.. but our luck wasnt there
Right out of the sheep creek marina, hit the cliffs about 1 block down and you can see the bass. Use worms and you’ll get steady action.
If anyone one else fishes the gorge and would like to post about it please do. I decided that for my bday this weekend Im going to the berry instead and gonna hit up the gorge labor day weekend. I hear that the kokanee fishing dies down after about mid august at the berry so I have to give it another shot. Really hoping to land a nice one. Been doing alot of research on kokanee fishing since Im new to it. Gonna make my way down to Sportsman Warehouse before leaving tonight to get some RMT gear. Hopefully Ill have some pics to post monday.
My wife and I came back from there yesterday. We tried for some kokes with no luck and resorted to some bass fishing. We caught a few and the photos attached show the enormous size of them. We also caught a few stocker rainbows of no braggin’ size.
Where were you trying to fish for kokanees?
Over in the bay where Horseshoe Canyon dumps into and the other end is Sheep Creek
OK. Heard there are kokes being caught in jarvies still. Anyone know of any other areas on the utah side that kokes are being caught right now?
We fished as far south as Rollins for kokes, but it was tuff fishing for us this week. We all got our limits but it was a full day to just do that. Kokanee Kings in shiny brass and pink Tas-devils still seem to be the best producer for me.
Also managed to boat a couple 4 lbs rainbows for the smoker around the pipeline area. I counted 8 crawdads in one and 6 crawdads in the other. Talk about blood red fillets. Fish that make a diet out of dads make for awesome table fare.
Nice Looking Bows!! Wow they are really putting those crawdads down! Was thinking of trying some scents while trolling. Do you ever use them?? If so what do you like using for bows and kokes?
