My bride and I are leaving Fri. to spend 5 or 6 days at the gorge. Any help as to what areas to try would be appreciated.
I was thinking of launching at Sheep Creek or Manila but we are not set on any thing so far.
I have not fished there much at all. We are going to be looking to catch a few kokes and macs. Any suggestions on colors etc. would also be nice.
Mainly just a trip to boat around a bit and get out of the rat race.
I was at the gorge a week ago and holy crap it was on fire! we limited out on kokes in less than an hr and were done fishing by 745 with 9 kokes from 3-4lbs. I was fortunate enough to get out with a koke pro. We trolled at 30-45 with 4 rods and d-riggers, hot set up was rmt dodge and pink squid. the fish tasted delish
got report that the kokes are starting to turn to their spawning colors so it wont be long til some big reds are caught! I am headed back up at the end of august in hopes of catching a big hooky!
I spent last weekend up there and I did not get to fish much because of weather. What I did find was very fast action in Sheep Creek bay all of them were small. Just north of the pipeline was the best for size.
I was using Kokanee Creek Tackle flashers and spinners, the bread and butter color was the best with the Harley was a close second.
thanks for the info. I don’t know what happened but it has taken me this long to get this dumb computer to let me type anything.
As for the koke forum thanks I had totally forgotten about it.
I feel a bit like a kid waiting for Christmas. My wife and I have been trying to get to the Gorge for 3 years. (kids and life if you know what I mean)
I will be there from next Tuesday night to Sunday. If you’re still there let me know. I am in Manila. If not let me know how the fishing was for ya! Bbq my place on Wednesday night if you’re there.
Fish on!
