I’m a new member and this is my first post.what a cool sight I love it.
Decided to leave monday the 19 at 7:00 am.I didn’t want to pull boat up on any icy roads I’ve done that a few times before,so I thought I’d let the sun come up.Wasn’t going to be a big deal because we was planning on staying until friday.I didn’t get much sleep because I was excited and couldn’t wait to get a pole in the water.My buddy was to be at my house at seven and I was to be ready.My part was easy I was ready the day before.seven rolls around I have a eggs, bacon ,hashbrowns,toast all hot and ready.NO buddy were could he be?I pick up the phone and called, no answer.I blow up his phone.Ring redail,ring redail over and over.No answer I wanted to put him in a head lock.So I fed his breakfast to my garbage can then jumped in my truck and headed for his house looking to try out some all star wrestling moves.I knocked on his door and his roomate opened it.I said I hope I didn’t wake you up.He said you didn’t but I’m sure your pal is out cold, you can find him down stairs.I get half way down stairs and I can hear snoring.I was a long ways away this guy snores Loud.I think its because his heads so large.I walked down to his room.He was laying on his bed clovered with a blanket only thing uncovered was this extremly large noggin.I don’t think the whole bed spread would of covered it.Really its huge.Two feet from the huge melon was his phone.I pushed redail it rings, he don’t flinch at all.I didn’t think he would nothing could of been heard over that snoring.I thought about the head lock thing then thought I might not be able to reach around it and then if I did we might be going to the hospital and not fishing,so I shook him and got him moving.Finally we was on the road after we had to stop so he could get a stamp to send a bill.I ask him do you need to go to the bathroom or should we stop and get you some lip stick or anything else? It was now 8:50.We get to the lake and get the boat in the water.Its now noon.We head over to lucerne bay and I go to my seven favorite spots in Lucerne for this time of year not one fish on the finder.Its now 2:00 and we havn’t even sank a Rapala.So me and mister head-head over to swim beach only to find 1 to 2 inches of ice,but theres two boats jigging off the edge so we do a drive buy to see if there might be something out that way.I didn’t think there would be any fish out there because they was in 95 to 110 feet of water but mabee they knew something I didn’t. This time of year I find all the fish in 25 to 50 feet.There was nothing on the finder.Its now 2:25.We jump out in the channel and head towards the pipeline and troll along the cliffs that are on the same side as swim beach we get down closer to the pipe line and see fish nothing looked very big but I needed to catch something.So we sank my favorite Rapalas on the down riggers.What fish on!!! I knew it wasn’t a whopper but it was a fish.3:05 fish caught 3:06 fish released.Sank Rapalas again.3:25 fish on 3:26 fish released.Small fish again.Me 2, buddy (head) 0.Need a whopper.So we went over to the other side of the channel to see if they might be hanging over there.Nothing, so me and mr.head went over went to the large bay straight across from swim were I should of went to start with because I’ve caught some nice fish over there before.4:15 saw my first stack of large fish.No biters.Trolled deeper in bay saw some more nice fish.Pulled other pole out with next favorite winter evening Rapala and sank it,ask buddy if he wanted to change he said no this Rapala I have on swims so good its going to catch something.4:35 we came across an other nice stack with about 8 large looking fish,buddy yells fish on 4:36 release an other small one.Small one what?All the fish on the finder was big.4:37 trying to get boat off ice we drifted into.5:00 trolling again.5:15 headed in[frown]No big ones,but feeling good because we knew where they was and had 4 more days to catch the whopper.Went back to the motel which was really nice for only 40 bucks dropped off the gear then went to the Hub and had a couple of stiff ones then went back and watched a little t.v relined a couple of poles that the ice roughed up, thru on a couple Rapalas and 9:00 lights out got some good sleep.7:30 next day boat trouble.What? Motor didn’t want to run right.This really sucked its never gave me any trouble before.Played around with it ran into town bought some fuel dryer.Still ran rough.So we decided we’d loaded it up and head for home.I walked up the ramp and ran into two crazy guys pulling out water skis.Really I’m not kidding.I said really they said yes this is the only open water we could find this side of Saint Gorge and this will be 49 monthes in a roll without fail.Wow I said.Then I told them about the big chunks of ice floating all over told them where the most clear area was they smiled and thanked me and headed towards the lake.I hurried and got the truck and headed down the Icy ramp I wanted to see this.Sure enough they both took a turn for about a minute.They was good.It was a nice day but come on that had to be cold.Mabee they should try snow skiing.This is Utah and its January.Hats off to them they could be a bigger die hard than me when it comes to fishing.It was a fun trip but it could of been longer but not much could of been better than seeing two guys skiing around ice chunks. Hope to get back up soon.Hope lake doesn’t have ice everywhere before.
to bad about the boat that sucks!!! atleast you caught a couple fishes. i doubt youll get the boat out again on fg this year sounds like the southern end is freezing up quick. your post was long and fun to read i hope to read anouther one soon.

Looks like a dandy your holding!!!mabee you think like me.After you catch fish like that.Catching anything under 20lbs just ain’t that great please don’t take that wrong its still fun,BUT its just not that great.Most fish caught could be used for bait.Please don’t take that wrong either.It makes me fill good to catch and release.

We used too live in Cali. Fished Mexican waters.
Cali fishing has to be great.The buddie that went fishing with me lived in Cal.His buddie called him today and told him they just caught 3 really nice steal head.We’re thinking of making a run up there.I’ve fished in San Diego before and caght a nice shark but thats the only fishing that i’ve done there.
[sly]First of all you have no room to talk about HEADS lol great story MR P Everyone im the alias head that was on the trip with bigheadgotone i mean bigfishwanted i do alot of stuff with bigfish about every day i didnt want to go but i was glad i did -no fish boat trouble and all every trip with this guy is an adventure weather it be on our bigdog choppers golfing or just hanging out at his OPENBAR hehe the morning he woke me up at my home after i said no at 1:15 am as i left his house 6 hrs earlier i wake up to a ass 1ft from my face farting that woke me up still wasnt going to go but when he told me he was going with or with out me no need for him to be on that lake in the middle of january by himself and i knew he would go so i got up showerd through some stuff in a bag and climbed in his truck sure glad he brings extra warm gear but it was beautiful when we got on the lake 1 thing about bighead is he will find the fish he not coming to shore untill he does or it gets dark the last time we went we fished hard my toes were frozen it took me 2hrs to get him to take me to shore so i could get warmer boots i quit fishing and he asked me what i was doing i told i had a better chance of seeing a naked girl on the shore line then catching a fish and if my toes were going to fall off i didnt want to miss out on seeing the naked girl he felt i was jinxing the boat so he took me in whinning all the way in got warmer boots and bam fish on ive had a 23 fish day with bigfish wanted on the gorge 8 tiger muskie day on pineview great fisherman just bring all you need when you go oya day two on this trip i didnt want to go 6:45 am at the hotel wake up call butt 1ft from face farting love ya bro cant wait for the next trip and FISH ON!!!

The best I think would be Quail or Sand Hollow from the middle of March to the first part of May…And Powell in February, but a big bass in Utah is SM bass 5# and bigger or LM bass at 6# and up…
But there are other lakes that have good bass that I can’t say on here with the meat hunters…
