Flaming Gorge koks/pictures

bueatiful fish ! cool your putting them back to ! alot of people just take from a fishery and never think of putting back! then ya wind up with a fished out pond like schofield! glad they changed the regs. at that puddle . anyways i do pretty good at the berry on some days for the kokes. but none in the size catagory of those fish! nice job !! and same to bass rodds i see him up at jordanelle all the time and he is always tossing his "slimmy trash fish " back!![:p] good on ya guys.

Thanks for the post..!!![fishin]

The thing you said about taking fish out of a lake I couldn’t agree with you more…You say ya fish the berry for koks. What size of koks do you catch there? I think the state record of 6 lbs came from there…Next time you run into bassgod at Jordanelle follow him around for a while and make sure he’s telling the truth. He told me he’s so good he fishes with two hands tied behind his back.[sly]

If I had 5 hours to catch a fish I’d spend 4 of them looking for a store that sold Rapalas

Hmm sounds like you might know a thing or two about fishing.[;)] Or are you one of those guys that don’t know much… that just like doing it?[;)]

Rapalas know a lot about fishing.

from what little i have heard about ice fishing for koks, your lucky to get more than one or two. try just a couple feet below the ice with stuff you would use fishing for them in the summer

Hooter Patrol, I don’t know you but enjoy your posts. I hope you don’t go anywhere.

Sorry but I don’t know nathan and really don’t fish any more ether…[;)]

And I have been told that ALL fisherman lie, but me and you…[;)] And I wonder about you at times…[sly]

I think I am done ice fishing for now, I need some soft water fishing…

Thanks. I will have to try that. The kokes can be caught off of buckboard in the summer right?

I’m okay, AND I’M BACK [:p]
Had to STOP and take a CHILL PILL!!!
I’m back and I’ve had time to think ?
And yes it is just a forum to talk about FISHING,
So that is what I’m going to do from now on is,
Catch Big Fish and put there picthers on the site,
I’m headed up to the gorge this next week if the weather
holds up maybe Thurs, and fri,
The gorge is the only place I can go and do the one thing I do best and that is catch BIG FISH ,
I think I have welt downs when I can’t get up there ?
PS. If I upset anyone I’m Sorry, Didn’t mean to. [;)]

  • we just seem to catch the typical 2-3 pounders ! but thats on the soft water not on the ice! and all i can say for bass rodds is he knows his stuff !!! i wish i could know half of what he knows about jordanelle. he knows the browns and bass like no other !! i strictly fish for browns though. he has caught 10 lb. fish that we have had still our lures! (do to my dumb #$$ cousin that didnt tie his lure on right and lost my 20 $ crankbait!!! [crazy]) hes banned from going anymore with us. but yeah he has pm me about his drop shot method and i tryed it but didnt have much luck with it. but i know it works for him cause i have seen him reel in countless fish while i was trolling by him.

bigfishwanted you should read a book i tryed out a while back called big trout by ray johnson its primarilly about the goerge and is a pretty good book the author is a member of the old brown baggers club

Glad to have u back!!!:slight_smile:Just keep fishing!!!
Gorge hmm.sounds good to me.Finally there looking at my boat monday. I hope to be there also.Hope thats the thing I do every time I go fishing. One thing I’m hoping for right now is the members of bft can respect each other.Save your crude and rude replies and keep them to yourself !!! Debates one thing ignorance is another.

If you aim at nothing your sure to hit it.Rapalas take a dead aim at fish.[fishin]

Hello brownman,
I read a book by him about 17 or 18 years ago.It might of been that book. From looking at your profile name I’d think it was.Hundreds of pictures of huge browns that he’d caught at the Gorge. He’d camp out for months at a time in the middle of the winter.Him and his boat would get trapped in places by freeze of the ice. He’d be there until spring.Do you think he’s a dedicated fisherman? I really enjoyed that one.Man vs wild!!! Ray vs Gorge!!!
From the size of them fish he caught I’d say he won.

After you quit once it gets easier the next time.Rapalas never quit.

Maybe You should Take a little control when you fish with dumb #$$ people.I tie all the knots on my boat. When hooking on a Rapala I use the Rapala loop knot it gives the lure a better action and if you tie it right it will never break before the line does.Rapala puts a diagram of it in the box of every lure they sell.Big fish don’t come around often but when they do human error needs to be extinct.

Rapalas are so good they have there own knot.

I have heard about the rapala loop knot. heard it gives the rapala the action that it is designed to have. I cant figure out how to do it or maybe 6lb test is too small. If you have any pointers that could help me out a lot. the guy that I bought my boat from told me this is how he catches the big ones out at strawberry and jordanelle. Troll a little faster than normal to get the proper action then slow it down to a hard vibration. that is where that loop knot comes into play.
thanks

I don’t think that I could explain how to tie that knot.Next time you buy a Rapala there will be a folded up white piece of paper in the box the Rapala comes in.It shows how to tie it.If you get one wrong turn on the knot it will break. When you tie the knot grab your lure and your line and pull hard to check the knot.If you made a wrong turn the line will break.Start over until you get it right. When its right the line will not break.:slight_smile:I’m not sure but Rapala might have it on their website.WWW.RAPALA.COM

Rapalas catch trophy fish so you can release them. [fishin] [fishin]

Did you say fisherman are liars? You can say that again.Did you know that a fish grows more after it caught than when its alive.I’ve seen a lot of macs pictures or mounts that are called 30 lbs when they’d be lucky to be 22 lbs.Last week I saw a mount that the guy said was 37 lbs.It was nice fish but it was 30 at very best.Call them what they are.A 25 lb fish is a nice fish call it a 25.The wise fisherman taxidermist that I told you about visiting a couple of days back- backed my thoughts that I had on this subject.I asked him how many macs comes to his shop every year.He told me he’d bet he does more than anyone in Utah. That was a loaded question, because I’d really like to know how many true 40 lb fish are caught in a year.So I ask him how many 40 lb macs he mounts a year.He said true 40 lbs or 25-35 lb fish that are said to be 40.I said true of coarse. He said about 1 every two years and about 50 that are called 40 that are not. That made me feel a lot better because I haven’t landed one yet after years of trying. He also told me that he gets a lot of 17-18 lb fish that come in that are called 25.He told me that a lot of people go out with guides the guides tell them that they’re 5-10 lbs bigger than they really are.Makes since most people have never caught a fish bigger than 5-10 lbs and they wouldn’t know the difference. The guide would get more business if the word gets out that he catches bigger fish than he really does.He also reminded me the state record was 37 lbs for a very lot of years. Then a 50 lb fish came in and shattered it then about 6 or 8 months later the 51.8 lb current state record broke that one.He mounted both the fish that was over 50 lbs he showed me the molds. Both them fish are hanging in sportsmans and other places. When I came home I jumped on the internet and tried to find a resource on old records but I came up empty handed. If anyone knows were to find old records maybe you could look up the old mac records and verify the 37 lb thing and from when to when please.
Sorry to get off the subject but I thought it might be interesting to someone else that had the same thoughts as myself.

Rapalas make it possible for fishermen to stretch the truth.

Glad you didn’t take off Hooter Patrol.

Thanks bigfish for the help I must be doing it wrong and get frusterated and just tie a bloodknot. I will try harder next time I think its worth it for the extra action.
THANKS AGAIN

No thank you,
You seem like a nice guy. I enjoyed watching your video on your profile page.I wasn’t sure but it looked like you turned your possible state record loose at the end?

Rapalas R rated G for everyone.

Nice Kokes man. I didn’t think the old spawners would still be alive up there. We caught some huge red hookjaws back in August up there. When do they start the “Floating” process???

Anyway, thanks for all you posts and pics. It’s always nice to have the pics with the story.

Bassrods just likes telling the stories :sunglasses:
