This was a November trip.I’d of posted report then but I wasn’t a member at that time..I main reason I’m posting it now is I like all the B.F.T. members to know more about what Flaming Gorge has to offer.At this time of year these fish are on their death beds they need to be handled very careful they’re going to die soon.I just don’t want to be the one to kill them.You can’t keep a kok at this time of year anyway.I’m not sure but think you have to release all koks starting September 5th.I never pay attention because I release all fish thats caught out of my boat.These are not a hard fish to catch.If someone tried hard one boat could catch a hundred in a day.They look really neat and put up a good fight.If you use light tackle it can be a fun battle bringing them in…I’m not an expert theirs a lot better kok fishermen than I but,If anyone wants to know a little more about catching them send me a p.m. and I’ll tell you what I can.

I’d have to think you know a thing or two about setting a hook…Red, I’m color blind I thought I bought purple paint.
Since this post is about Flaming Gorge and your a bass master I’d like to tell you that I drop by a really good bass fisherman house today.He won the derby more than once at Flaming Gorge for bass.He showed me some pictures of some small mouths that he landed up there.I was very impressed.As long as I’ve fish there I never caught one not even on accident.They was nice fish.I’d be very happy to catch a fish like that.Of course I’d take a picture then let it go.I think he got it mounted after all he’s a taxidermist.This guy new so much about fishing.He finally had to kick me out because he got tired of answering all my question.Just kidding.But I picked his brain as much as he’d let me.Its not very often you run into a guy that know near as much about fishing as he does.It was a real treat.He knew about all different kinds of fish.He gave me some nice tips on macs also.And tackle his collection was sick.He has more tackle than I could explain.I left his house shaking and wanting to go fishing.I need to go soon.
One question I have is have you tried your bass luck at the Gorge?Or should i say skill / luck?
I may have fished it a time or two, the biggest SM bass from up there is 5.2 lb in one tournament a few years ago…and a Mac at 44lb 9oz by the scales I had…Oh yes both are still swimming in your puddle…
I use to have a scale that I bought at K-mart also.Kidding of coarse.Speaking of scales.I got on mine the other day and looked down and it said one at a time. I wish I was a fish I think.
Nice pics, i make a few trips each year to the Gorge targeting the Kokes, trips i look forward to, as each year unfolds. Just kind of curious though, i have never heard any explanation as to why a salmon gets so distorted (hookjaw, hump, reddish color) before the spawn.Wonder if there is a biological explanation for this change? i know this is the place to probably answer my curiousity.[;)]
