I would like to get on the hard deck Sunday, not to far from SLC. However, I do not want to go where there is SLUSH!!!Deer Creek is loaded with it, I heard Pineview is also. How is Rockport and Echo? Any one been to Jordanelle lately? I’m guessing the Rock Cliff arm would be a better bet for trout and ice thickness? Any info would be great. Thanks.
I fished Jordanelle and Rockport on Sunday last weekend.
They both had a little slush, Jordy was worse though. It was tough dragging a sled up the boat ramp with all the 4 wheeler ruts that have been dug up too.
Rockport on the east side is what I would say is the easiest access in the area. The slush is not too bad either. about 2-3 inches. Hopefully it has hardened up with some cold temps.
Both lakes also have safe ice too, but the rock cliff ice is not that plentiful. The ice stops after the second BIG rocky point. I saw 4 wheelers out there that were close to getting stuck. Hope this helps you decide.[;)]
Thanks for the feed back. Depending on what I hear about Echo, Rockport is and was my first choice. I do have a snowmobile for access, but then I have the slush from the track getting all over my gear. I have tried to use a tarp to cover it, and that only works so-so. Did I mention that I hate SLUSH!!![:p] (unless it’s in a drink form) Any places on Rockport where a snowmobile is not reccomended, (other than the weber river inlet of course.)
Are there restrictions by the dam etc.
I see people fishing off the damn dam every time I go there. I hate fishing the damn dam I have only caught small ones and only a couple at that. I know it can be good sometimes but I just hate it. And for some reason it always has the most trash and messy powebait all over the place. I wonder if that has anything to do with it being the only spot to park on that lake that doesnt require a fee.
PM sent.
I was at Rockport yesterday…No slush…It was 3 degrees in Morgan this morning, so it should be ok.
Great info thanks. where were you and how did you do? I really liked the “no slush” part ![]()
