Two of my son;'s and I made our first trip to Fish Lake on the 31st. Beautiful lake and surrounding area. parked at the first parking lot on south end of the lake and got on the ice about 9-930. There was a line of people out about 150 yeards from the parking lot so we went out a few hundred yards farther than everyone else, which was a mistake because after watching the others who were closer to the parking lot catching fish for the next 30 minutes we decided to move.
But decided instead of going back by everyone else we decided to walk the mile across to the east (deep) side where we could only see a 3 groups fishing.
Once on the far side, we stopped and talked to four guys from Cedar City who told to forget tipping with wax worms or worms and tip everything with perch meat and gave us a couple of perch. Thanks again..
Long story made short. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky all day, the wind never blew at all like I hear FL is famous for. Ice was solid, not slushy at all. The fishing was pretty slow all day, and we did stay all day.. but we did manage to get our limits of Splake (mixed in with a couple of nice bows) on the ice, and easily lost that many more due to sleeping on the job. I gotta get a fish finder but then again we all probably wouldn’t have caught the cat naps if I had a fish finder. All in all a fantastic day.. [fishin]
