I took my first trip to Fish Lake on Saturday. Took dad, daughter and nephew. Fishing was excellent! It was the first time I have caught perch or splake. We caught some nice rainbow too. Those that go down for the tournament this weekend will have a blast.
Any info on the ice or what depth you were fishing that you are willing to share? Thank you for info you posted already.
The ice was 4-6 inches. It was warm enough that we were standing in a puddle after a few hours. We moved around a little. Perch were best around 20 ft and trout better 30-40ft. Didn’t venture out any further since the ice was getting thinner out there and I am not that brave (or stupid[:P])
Just an FYI: I just got back from Fish Lake. Was up there on the ice Tuesday afternoon and straight out from the store. The ice was 8 inches thick and we were fishing in about 30 feet of water. Catching quite a few perch and one rainbow. On Wednesday we moved further north but were apparently out of the perch area. Caught a couple more rainbow then the wind came up and blew us and everyone else off the ice about 2:00 PM.
We appreciate that you gave us such a detailed description of your location: “Straight out from shore.” You shouldn’t have done that. Now, come Saturday, you are going to have lots of company. [fishin]
Might wanna get your eyes checked, or bone up on your reading skills.

Geeze, if you want exact coordinates to his spot, just say so. Here you go!
Pretty funny West fork, made me laugh!! There are a few people on this site that reside on that street.
Now you know why they call it “fish lake”.
