Anyone have any reports for deer creek? Thought about fishing there on saturday on the charleston side. What to use would be helpful.
Was up there last Sunday and it was pretty slow. My buddy caught 5 and I caught 1, 2 browns and 4 rainbows total. We fished from about 7:30am to noon. I was fishing black wooly buggers on a fly rod and my buddy was jigging marabous along with spinner fishing. We hit north end and walked down the tracks a ways.
One of the browns was a dang good fish, probably close to 20 and a couple pounds. All the others were fat and healthy too but not quite as long.
I was up there 2 weeks ago and the fishing was slow. All of the fish we found were shallow. The best success we had came in the Wallsburg arm. We had a group on the shore who caught nothing. In the boat, we caught 5. We did the best on pop gear with a worm. We tried trolling wolly buggers and had no luck.
Remember that there are Quagga Mussels in DC now. If you launch any kind of watercraft you are required to have the quagga certificate on the dash of your vehicle. Float tubes count as watercraft as well. When you leave the lake, decontamination is free and worth the effort so that you can re-launch in any other water without waiting for your boat to decontaminate over time.
