Went out on the ice to fish about1030 at the island from the north parking lot. About 3 inches of solid ice with some holes in it on the edge. Fished about 50 yards out from shore, 12 feet of water, and hooked one but lost it.
Walked out to the island and fished a couple of hours with fish on the finder but no bites.
Ice has crusty spongy layer 2 inches thick on the surface. Under it there is a few inches of water sitting on 8 to 9 inches of solid ice. Looks bad and feels funny to walk on but it was safe. Just watch out for old ice holes.
Edges were fine getting off just pick your spot. I would tell you where the exact spot to get on the ice is but that might be considered hot spotting…
