Went for a quick unplanned trip to Yuba this morning. Arrived about 10:00 down near the dam. Found quite a mob of fishermen on the ice, but they appeared to be having little success. Tried my stick there for a bit, then decided to move away from the crowd to the east. I found fish in 40’ of water, not fast, but enough to keep me interested. Iced 7 by 2:30 then headed back. Found one group (2 guys, 1 girl and a brittany spaniel) that were doing well. They seemed to be the only ones. Back through the pack there were reports of slow fishing only.
Fished Yuba today on the back side of the island at Painted Rocks from about 7am until around noon. The pearch that we caught were pretty nice. The downside is that I caught 10 Carp! Fished in twenty two feet of water with nightcralers and mill worms. Ice was about 7 inches thick. No problem with using the wheeler.
we were down to yuba also and caught our limit in about three hours. There was three of us. We walked across the lake and fished in about 35 feet , and caught them on carp meat and any available lure. We needed to jig often and then dead stick it. Most of the fish were between 10 and 12 inches. All were females except one. Beautiful day on the ice.
I saw you guys way out across the lake. I think the trick was getting away from the crowd. All the fish I caught were females with eggs as well. It was a beautiful day, sunny with no wind. I came home with a sunburn.
i was out there yesterday as well.. me coldfooter mememe and my boy tommy.. we took the snowmobils out of painted rock down to the nearows.. ok well just before the nearows.. parking on a hump in 30 feet of water.. had fish all day long comeing through.. we were trying for pike tho. no pike but a ton of perch out there.. it was still slow at time’s but a good school of fish would come through about every 15 to 20 min’s..
