Had a great fishing/camping trip toYuba. Thanks to all of you that took the time to give me suggestions since this was my first trip to Yuba. We arrived Thursday at Oasis campground around noon. Weather was nice for about an hour, then wind and rain. Talked to one BFT’er (can’t remember his name) on a pontoon float tube. He said he caught quite a few pike earlier in the morning. My wife and I fished for an hour then the wind came up. No fish.
Friday morning raining and blowing no fishing done. My son and grandson arrived Friday afternoon around 4:30. We fished until dark and caught a couple of pike.
Saturday morning my son and I caught a few more.
Saturday afternoon around 4:30 my wife and I gave it another try and she caught a 39” beauty. Was she excited (me too). She had to call me son right then and tell him all about it. We fished until dark with no more fish. We caught a few more and called it a day. We call all of these pike between the dock and the dam on various rapala’s. My wife caught her big one on a #7 countdown Rapala in firetiger pattern.
Sunday was a day of rest. We did drive over to Painted Rocks campground to check it out.
Monday morning we started fishing before sun-up between the dock and the dam with no success. Decided to try some new areas and found 6 or 7 pike of average size on the east side of the lake.

Well done Rob. You must either be retired or at least just down to working one job these days. I’ve got to get me one of those one of these days.

Kent, I just took a few days off from work…not retired yet.
All of the Pike we caught were released for someone else to catch another day.
From what I saw there are alot of minnows to keep the Pike healthy for sometime.
Way to go congrats on the pike. Bet you guys had a blast fighting them .[;)]

No problem glad you caught some. I stopped by saturday evening on my way home from cedar city and i had to get that skunk smell of me i was 0 for 8 on pike last time i was there .I missed the first 3 but on my 4th hook up i landed a 20 incher and that was good enough for me cant wait for ice season its gonna be fun catching them through the ice.

It was a fun trip Trevor. I first posted on this forum almost 9 years ago. I have tried to help when I can and have recieved alot of good advice from members of this forum.

Did you see my post about Idaho Sturgeon last month? Me and Joe caught several 6-8 footers and I caught one that was 9 feet long.
Ya I saw that post just barely but those were awesome fish! So were you casting or trolling for those pike?
Looks like you had a great trip on the Northerns, congrats. Nice pictures as well. Haven’t fished there since the great walleye fishing ended for us in 2002. Thanks for posting the pictures.
Spent a little time trolling…never caught any. All our fish where caught casting toward shore with rapalas.
