Yuba was great fishing today (as always). I took my little brother up with me, he’s never really ice fished before, and we caught our limit (20) in about 2 hours. Most of the fish were 7-9", but we caught one 11"… and one 5".
Lots of people on the ice today! I didn’t realize I had my camera with me till we got back to the Jeep, so I took some pictures of people on the ice. (I also took a top down picture of our bucket-'o-fish)
Nice fish, looks like you guys had fun. Did you catch anything except perch?
Unfortunately no :(. I had one pole the whole time fishing for Pike (minnow with a treble hook and a J hook on steel leader tipped with a chipped flasher)… but to no avail =. The chipped flasher, however, did attract quite a few pike, as I’d see something huge come in on the fish finder, but once they got a look at it they bolted. (or so it would have seemed)
They could’ve been carp givin’ you the eyeball… and the fin!
Just cause I like to reply to myself… I wanted to add:
I found that when the perch are hitting really lite, which seems to almost always be the case, using this jig seems to be the winning ticket. If your bait is securely fastened on one of the barbs of the treble hook, you really can’t lose with this one (well you can, cause you’ll almost certainly catch a smaller fish… but… you get the idea).

Glad you had a great day fishing looks like the weather was awesome to. Yesterday there was snow but the fishing was still great. I hope your little brother had a great time. I want to take my kids out soon.
Thats good you guys caught your limit! I was there this evening and managed a few bites. My son wants to catch some perch so bad he convinced me to go back in the morning weather permiting.
We fished right off the islands at painted rocks. ~28 feet right off the bed of the lake. They seem to hit just about anything with a worm on it.

Went back Sunday with my soon-to-be father in law, his neighbor, and his neighbor’s daughter…
Same rig, same spot… caught 40 fish in just shy of 2 hours from getting to the lake. (including time to pull the sled and drill holes)
An additional note however… .. . If I ever have to fillet another perch… I’m going to go postal ;). Just kidding, of course, but 40 fish takes a lot of time to carve up.
On a second additional note… I was thinking to myself this morning… “K James, remember your camera!” So, prior to taking a night cap shot of apple vodka chased by a bud light, I put my camera on my coat that I’d be wearing the following day. I wake up bright and early, put on my clothing, set my coat up and think to myself… “K James, your camera is in your top Velcro pocket on your coat.” … I get up to the lake, we have a ton of fish on the ice and … .. . well, I forgot where I put my stupid camera. So, till next time… I’m going to have to delay getting you some pictures of fish on the ice :'(.
The good news, we were fortunate enough to catch 8 perch that were 12" and the rest were at least 9" long. Most all the 12"rs were real monster perch and had a TON of meat on them.
Biggest fish was just shy of 12.5"
