Don’t ask me how long it will last but as of right now the big pond has about 1" of ice on it. Defentely not safe to be out drilling holes to fish from but the Cisco fisherman are on the ice, in about 2’-3’ of water, dipping the Cisco. Most anlgers caught there limits in about 5 min. It is amazing how much easier it is to dip the little guys by being on top of the ice.
Needless to say, be VERY CAREFUL and don’t go venturing out for a little bit. It will only take a little wind to break the pond back to open blue water. I will let you know how things are going tomorrow as well.
Well, those are fishing words, very exciting, hope it gets thicker. Love those days out on the Ice over the rockpile… All kinds of fish, Tons of fun…Thanks for the update.
The Cisco should defenetly be in clear through the weekend. My guess is we will still see them, not as thick, but clear into the weekend of Feb. 4-6…don’t quote me but I will keep you updated!
The ice off of Cisco Beach wasn’t thick enough, today, to get out on. The fisherman were breaking through it with just the nets so only a skim was left on the edge. There was a little bit of ice that had pushed up on the beach, my guess that is the ice that the Cisco fisherman were on yesterday.
The ice isn’t holding up real well, but what do we expect with only about an 1"? I had some locals head out, on there boat, to the Rock Pile this morning I am waiting to see how that went. They haven’t came back yet so my guess is that they broke there way out to it. As soon as I find out something new I will let everyone know. Till then find a nice warm place to throw up your feet and pray for some *COLD *temps in Bear Lake!
