Went after the boils again last night no action at all not one boil. Very few boats what did you know that i didn’t.
how was the weather looking? sometimes it just doesn’t happen. do you know the temperature of the water??
Take this with a grain of salt but I never fish the full moon, they are able to feed all night. With the weather moving in this weekend you might have a good night right before the cold front moves in.
Will be a great weekend for the youth water fowl hunt though[;)]
I was out there last night as well. Bank fishing along the Southern Banks. It was very windy last night with the thunderstorms around. The shad were holding tight against the bank in the rocks so the Wiper I saw and caught were very close to shore. Hard for a boat to spot.
Maybe tonight will be calmer. The fish are still eating shad, try again.
Oh i will be back water temp was just shy of 74 degrees. I was just surprised that their wasn’t many boats out or many people from shore so i figured everyone knew something that i didn’t. I didnt get the memo
Willard is one of the worst lakes to be on when it gets windy. Danger! 12’ waves can pick up in a heart beat. Wiper boils can be real hit and miss,but if you find a boil area chances are they will boil that area over and over.Mabey not every evening but more often than not.
And Henry’s Lake is the same way.
Don’t think I have ever seen 12 foot waves on Willard but years ago before they built the dike higher I saw waves that were crashing against the West dike backed by 80 to 100 MPH canyon winds. That was the year that the wind buckled and toppled a bunch of the big metal electrical power poles from Kayesville to Centerville. The spray was cresting the dike and you would get pretty wet from walking below the lip of the dike on the far side. After 2 days of blowing a few of us went out and picked up a bunch of walleye that were caught in the rocks as the big blow occurred during the spawn. I have been out there with waves half that hieght and it can get pretty exciting even in my 20 foot Crestliner.
12 footers on a lake 20 foot deep - that’d be a lot of water moving! So - walleye washed up on the shore! Shoot - I’ll bet even I could catch on of THOSE! So - if they’re already washed up was there still a limit on ‘catching’?
Was wondering if anyone gave it a try Thursday? Any luck? Any boil-action?
Weather didn’t seem too bad (at least not so 'W’indy) - and I was all kinda psyched to go, until reality at the homestead set in, and couldn’t get away.
At least next week’s forecast looks more ‘steady’ even if cooler. Gotta still be some fish left I figure!
Yea, 12 might be a little much, but a couple times out there I was conserend our boat was going to hit the bottom of the lake and couldn’t see anything but the wave tops above us like moses splitting the sea. That was a pucker!
I went again on thursday hoping to get rid of wed skunk well we did see two boils very short and wasn’t able to get into them. So now i have wed and thu skunk I’m going trout fishing LOL.
just curious but what side did you see those small short boils?? was it on the south dike?
