Launched at six am at north marina, trolled for walleyes going south along the freeway, then went west out to feedlot, then to south marina for a potty break. Then went out to the island, and then to the lightpole then to the bathtub, and then back to near freeway just south of north marina to head back to north marina…
NOTHING BUT ONE MEASLY CAT TO SHOW FOR IT, and to matters worse, it was my buddy Bill that caught it!
I trolled with bottom bouncer and harness for walleyes, and then switch over to producers for wipers. No bite nothing! Most people Ive talked to on the lake said no success except for one crappie that was mistakenly caught. Slow day on willard indeed!
I was out to Willard today, slow at first, but around 11 the bite turned on, managed to boat 5 wally’s and one wiper.
Trolling Crank’s. Not catching them in the normal places i usually catch’em.
water temp was at 70 when I left the water the other day. I was trolling cranks for the last half hour trying to locate the eyes but couldn’t take the bugs so got out of there. I’m going to hit it in the morning for a few hours. Is anyone else going to be out there?
Must have been an off day on Saturday the 30th. I got shellacked at Pineview in the a.m. I ran into Kentofnsl on the way off the water, and they hadn’t done well there yet either. I was wanting to at at least catch 1 fish I headed over to Willard for the afternoon. (From about 12:00 to 4:30 or so). Well, I got my wish…I caught one fish. A 22" Walleye. My personal best Walleye ever, but still only one fish. A lot of people talked to me at the south marina when I was pulling out. Nobody else did well either. I’ve done really well the last 3 times out this year at Willard. I had to pay my dues at some point I guess.
Storm Fronts and pressure will shut down the bite,[frown] watch the weather closer, and schedule a day were the pressure is the same and on the 2nd to 3rd day you will knock theme dead. Caught 7 wiper 2 crappie and a waleye on he 28th of May before the front moved in. it was the 3rd day that the pressure was steady, I know some think I am crazy to beleave this, but history repeats it’s self and I learn from the old dogs.
