I’ve never really caught walleye in any serious numbers. I expected to see a bunch of wipers showing up on Saturday. But, we ended up catching 16 walleye on flicker shads. I couldn’t believe it.
Biggest walleye was 21". Pretty steady fishing between about 9:30 AM and about 3:00 pm.
The launch ramp was a circus afterwards, but probably fair given that we had Freeway Bay to ourselves for almost the entire day.
That’s why, now that I’m retired, I NEVER hunt or fish on a weekend unless it’s on private property. I’m sorry for the rest of y’all that don’t have that luxury.
I used the F7 flicker shad on most of the rods. But one had an F9 on it and was catching pretty well too. It was a greenish pattern instead of the black/silver pattern on the other rods.
I was really surprised that we had Freeway Bay to ourselves on a Saturday in June.
Close to joining you. I am old enough, but my wife is pushing for 70 so she is retired at the same time. I think she thinks she will never see me if I go fishing without her… she may be right. LOL
