Willard Bay 6/15

Water Temp: 75 Degrees

Launch location: Willard South Marina (5-5.3ft depth in Marina)

Time: 5pm - 8pm

Max recorded water depth:13.3ft

Set out in my kayak to catch walleye. It was after I arrived that I realized I forgot my worms, so I only used crankbaits. Started slow (nothing the first hour) as I worked on finding a speed the fish might be interested in. I don’t know what bird it was, but it seemed to be lots of them diving from the air into the water. My sonar seemed to show some bait balls.

Seemed like I had better success in the 1.5 mph range. Caught 3 wiper on a lip less crankbait at the island then moved east to look for walleye. Lost one walleye after I had him in the boat and ran into one more on a firetiger flickershad.

Stay safe out there guys. Let’s keep those life jackets on. Don’t want to lose any more friends.

Way to go, sounds like you did pretty good, considering your limited ability to move around. I think the location you got to, when you got the two eyes, was a good place to start but a little bit farther North is where we did good today. Were you using f5, f7 or f9 flicker shad? Any side planers?

No side planar and i think it was a flicker shad 5. I was thinking of going over to Freeway Bay but instead stopped when I ran into the walleye. I was surprised that slow trolling the crankbates was what they wanted.

How well did you do?

We limited out for three of us by noon. Lots of baby shad showed up on the fish finder this week, wasn’t seeing them a week ago
