Every once in a while, someone will mention what they like to buy or take with to eat, drink, or snack on while fishing. And often, they sound pretty good. If I could only remember so that the next time I go I could take some too.
What’s your preferred consumables while out fishing?
After a few replies, I’ll let you know my most recent discovery. I’d let you know now but I can only stand just so much harassment. [:p]
I always have peppered beef jerky and energy drinks (usually Monsters) But if I’m hiking then it’s protein bars, granola bars and water. Also some sort of candy.
What ever I have around the house likecrackers and cheese
and bananas, just kidding the last timesomeone had a banana on the boat we only got 3 fish. after he ate it we never got a nother bite.
One guy I took out brought stuff tomake a hoge sandwich that was good.
Spam, jalapenos, and cheese sandwich. I fry the 1/4" thick slices of spam until they are fairly crisp. I add plenty of my own sliced pickled jalapenos and a slice of sharp cheddar cheese. Man I love those sandwiches!
Since I’m up around 2:30 - 3:00 for my typical long trips to the Berry or Bear Lake, lunch for me is around 9:00 am. It’s always good to see my beloved spam sandwiches there waiting for me in the cooler.
Those hard boiled eggs and shrimpets of RealMasta’s sure sound pretty good too.
No yeast? You know the little critters that eat the sugars and make the mixture drinkable?
I like smoked fish, I think having the smell on my fingers improves my odds of catching fish. Cheese is good, sardines are great, trail mix, Gatorade and a couple of those barley pops Remo is talking about, but I like mine fermented.
Most of the time I am so busy fishing that I don’t eat or drink much. Either changing offerings until I start catching or catching after changing offerings a bazillion times. More than once I’ve been told to sit down and give it a rest, while fishing.
I’ve been known to take out a small stove or bbq on the hard deck to cook dogs or fry up some wild game to warm up the belly a bit. This year it looks like I’ll be making your sandwich on the ice grilled cheese style. Good thing I’m pickler of jalepenos too.
Also, been known to pickle myself with Remo’s recipe while fishing but that’s a whole other story.
get jerky and ham in a bag or roastbeef and eat it out of the bag jerky is great stay away from energy drinks water and water is what you need trust me you wont get tired driving home
Usually I take two or three of …Jerky, protein bars, granola bars, trail mix, sandwiches, cheese, and smoked fish with crackers. Water and small water filter if I am hiking in a long ways.
Speaking of “plenty of water to drink”, I always take a bottle or two of Gatorade or equivalent. If I don’t stay hydrated while out fishing, I get leg cramps the following night and bad headaches the following day. Gatorade or PowerAde seems to solve that problem.
