UL

Hi guys, first post just got a 14’ boat about a month ago and have been fishing willard alot. I would like to take my kids to UL on monday to do some fishing… I apologize i looked and tried to search but couldnt seem to find the info i needed, i have never been there if there a better marina to launch from? What is the recommended bait or fishing style? Most fish will be released i just want them to have fun… thanks

If people are celebrating memorial day expect the harbors to be packed. I hear better fishing reports coming from people who launch from the lindon or american fork harbors. as far as bait and style, I’m not really to famalir of fishing from the boats on utah lake but I hear alot of success from the reports on this site. Worms, jigs, whitebass carp cutbait, spinner bait, lures, all work. I read that fishing near weeds and structure is your best bet to find fish. Just try to look again because there is alot of reports on this site about utah lake, with alot better info than this.

People have been catching lots of white bass in the Provo state park. All along the south jetty is good. For catfish, move closer in the reeds should work well. Goodluck…

We used some pink or red jig heads with a chartruse bodies and did well.. A white almost clear fish looking jig from wal mart did well til it got the tail ripped off.. I had a part of a body that was white on the belly and dark green on it back that did awesome.. I threaded it so it had a bulge in it so it would spin when you retrieved it…
Red a post for yesterday about UL and some from last week had some good advice..
That’s what got me going last weekend.. I’d never been to UL til then..
Tip it with a worm or WB meat after you catch one..
Caught Cats on the same jigs tipped with WB meat left sitting on the bottom.
Good Luck..

what size jig head were you using…? thanks!

I saw a white/clear lure at Walmart last week. Seems like it was partially filled with liquid. Is that the one you are talking about?

Jig heads were from 1/8 up.. I like the 1/4 oz range.. Bigger bodies and throw a little easier.. Do a fast retrieve or I did bounce it a little but got snagged up sometimes.. I have tool to retrieve my lures so it’s not to bad when I snag up..
The Wal Mart jig was a solid rubber I think.. My son wouldn’t let me touch it to see for sure.. He was afraid I’d cut it off and use it…LOL
Some guys were using a #2 gold blue fox at the mouth of the Provo River and catching some.. We did try the B Fox but didn’t have any luck but we didn’t know what we were doing for a while..
We launched at the little private marina below Lindon.. It’s south ish of from the American Fork marina..
We went north just a little ways to a little inlet.. Go right up into the clear water or stay just on the edge of it..
I might go back again this weekend if it stays cool.. I’m not a hot weather fisherman..

Fish On

I fished the Provo inlet last week during the eclipse and did pretty good for the few hours that I was there.

I was fishing from my tube over next to the reeds on the south side of the river and when there got to be to many boats for my liking I moved south into the open pockets of water and was still picking up white bass. The good part was once I moved in that area I started picking up some nice sized channels in the 20"-22" range on me second pole.

Fished with jigs on my small pole for the white bass and was soaking white bass meat on the bottom with my second pole.

Good luck.

Wherever you launch, look for a rocky shore or moving water and hit with jigs in Chart, white, sparkly anything, pink, orange, black, and spinners, small spoons, small cranks, just about anything that wiggles, flashes, or rattles. If you make 20 casts without a WB, you’re in the wrong spot.

Chunks of WB or chubs/carp under a bobber against the reeds will get bit by cats. I do better around the native bulrushes than the phragmites reeds, but sometimes doesn’'t make a diff.

Small wiggly jigs with worm chunks should find bluegill where veg cover and gravel/sandy bottoms occur, in 3-5 feet of water.

Cruise any shore and you’ll find a good spot eventually.

Just got back from the state park. Fishing was fast for wb from 6:30am - 8:30am. My friends and I caught over 100 fish on plastic jig.

Thanks for all the info guys, this is truly a great site, since i am coming from the north does it matter where i launch is any marina easier/better fishing? thanks in advance

Go for lindon, i think it’s 10$ but great fishing is real close.
