My family, family friend, my friend and I went over to our camping spot that we usually go to a lot ever summer to have a great time in the woods. We went to lily lake and yes there are lily pads there and mirror lake. We get up there around 7 pm unpack the trialer. When i was dont with making beds and every thing else I decided to go on the provo river for a while till the sun goes down. I walked up the river caught at least 3-5 small brookies.
Saturday morning woke up early walked up the river far away from camp site and only caught like 3 or 4 small brook, at least some were ok size. After i went back to camp to eat some food I decided to go down stream so i did i caught another 7. I nice smooth stretch of water finally i found had 3 brookies there that i caught tose fly down hill and strip it up stream. Later after dinner went to mirror lake my dad was using our secrete bait and in like 1 hr he caught 9 fishes. The first 2 fishing that were in cage escape [:/] because the bottom cage as old and spring was dumb so put some fishing line on and the fishes couldnt run away no more >:), I caught 2 at mirror on on secrete bait then on on my lovly black wolly bugger. Good size so i kept that one and let go the other one after unhooking him so he swam happy away from me, later my dad dropped me off at lily lake used the ETDT lure caught 1 tiger trout and 1 bow.
Sunday comes last day [:(] went on river again caught a few brookies again on my holes then off to lily lake. I waded out to this weird floating cover up there and the fishes had no love for silver fox, elk hair and zebra midges failed as well. I found my last woolly bugger because i lost one at mirror >:(, tossed it and BAM!!!. Big 15-18 in tiger trout. Gosh he put a huge fight. It went into the lily pads oh not good trying to take him out of them, after like a 5+ min fight got him into my net and into the cage. Walked around and caught a decent size brookies and thats how my fishing trip end. Gona go up there next week lets hope those stupid tiger trout will be in the lily pads this time so i can actually slay them >:)
Good job. Those roadside areas are great fun.
yes they are but i hate how fast the water is but i gota dead with it. I have tons of spots but the stupid high water makes them leave so i walk far just to catch a few a day last year in one day i could catch 50+ brookie but oh well i will be up there next week catching some more on fly rod on the river and lakes.
Caddis is the good ANYTIME fly
You told me that there weren’t any caddis hatches going on up there but it looks like they are. Plus the river is so fast now. The fishes don’t want to be in the faster pool but I will catch more later on this season when water level slow down on ehc. At lakes the fishes arnt comming to shore yet because it’s still cold but give it 1-2 more weeks before they go crazy on them ha ha ha.

Why would I tell you this? I have not been up there till a couple of weeks ago. Caddis is my go to dry. Caddis work whether there is a hatch or not. You are wrong about them being in close on the stillwater, they are a cold water species. I don’t fish the rivers/creeks up there so I certainly would NOT have given you any advise there.
I think you have the wrong person. or maybe the meds haven’t kicked in[:)]
sorry but im dont do drugs deleted and i sure i dont take pills every day or any type of meds on a daily base ever in my life.
do you ever proof read your posts before clicking submit?
So, are you saying I made a mistake like you did about me.
You called me out in your post. You are quoting things I never said, so I assumed you were confused. Maybe leave me out of your posts might be a good idea as I don’t know you and you don’t know me.
In the words of the late Rodney King. “Can’t we all just get along?”
Maybe since he is gone now we don’t have to get along anymore. LOL

That would be wonderful, but to make a point to say I said NOT to use an Elk Hair is just not true, meaning a lie. And lying about someone is against forum rules isn’t it?
Not sure what Flyfishlover was trying to gain, but it is B.S.

When did I say this???
I’m not going to get in the middle, but EHC are one of those flies that are absolutely deadly sometimes and absolutely worthless other times. Then there’s times in the middle where they’re a pretty good attractor pattern. ( or a decent fast-water golden stone or hopper imitation.)
I don’t have good luck with them when a caddis hatch is happening, but if there are egg-layers at work, skating a caddis is awesome. It’s fun watching fish come a foot or two out of the water when they hit one. A couple of weeks ago I had a take on about half of the drifts I did. Saturday, I couldn’t buy a hit on it but soft-hackles near the surface were doing great.

Not pointing that at you personaly just don’t know how to make a reply in general without a user name at the top and you were the lucky winner.
Was just trying to be funny but it may not have worked.

Nice try, worthy effort IMHO. maybe you needed a picture:

Lets try to refrain from personal attacks, I think we’ve got a misunderstanding here is all. Some folks advice isn’t just a ‘note on the internet’ - there are people who guide, and hold a different value to their ‘advice’.
FFL - I know you’re new here, and a young angler, and I applaud your enthusiasm to get out fishing, and to jump into the board. You’re probably already ahead of me in the fly-flinging dealio! I’m sure you didn’t mean anything negative in your original post.
FG - he may have easily misquoted you, or mixed up who said what - I do that all the time.
what would you recommend if a caddis wasn’t getting the love?

I have a question about that first picture.
Is that cat his friend or his midnight snack?
With the way things have been going lately it could go either way.
