Welcome back, glad you had a good trip. Also, another thank you is in order for those awesome plungers! Hit Jordanelle with the wife today and they were the ticket! Also, thanks for letting us know about that spot, we were able to find some more table-sized ones in there again.
Unfortunately, we forgot the camera in our rush to hit the water between thunderstorms and lightning, but we had a great time.

Not a good idea. I want to catch some fish when I go there. He seems to have a way of attracting skunks. The last time he came over to Arizona, I managed to catch one cat in two days. The week before and the week after he was there the fishing was fantastic.
That campground really is a nice setup. I was impressed. However, the lake is only 18% full. Might be dry by the time I get back up next month.
One of my cousins is planning to break out his wheelers and take us (and our tubes) back in to some small lakes with big trout. Can’t wait. His little girl got an eight pounder while fishing out of their rubber raft last week.
Define “interesting”. Interesting is an interesting word.
**Seriously, I am always intrigued by poking around old mines. Did a lot of it while living in the gold country of California. I have also visited old mining areas in Colorado, Oregon and other parts of Idaho. I close my eyes and try to pretend that I am there in the “heyday”…when the miners were busy and things were noisy with activity. **
I am a fairly knowledgeable geologist and can identify most of the more common rocks and ore specimens. After decades of being picked over by other rockhounds, few tailings piles have many real treasures left, but there are usually a few decent specimens to gather as souvenirs of the visit anyway.
The main target of the miners was silver, and there was some beautiful galena (lead and silver) specimens in the museum. However, we didn’t find much more than some greenish copper minerals, pyrites, calcite crystals and miscellaneous “purty rocks”. Only took a few small pieces.
It was interesting to look down on the valley from up on the top of the mountain. It was also interesting to enjoy the cooler temperatures and the nice little breeze…while we enjoyed an afternoon snooze in the shade of some tall pines.
We had heard there were quite a few rattlesnakes up there. It would have been “interesting” if we had found a couple. TubeBabe don’t like snakes nohow. Don’t matter what species. If we had seen a snake she would have beat me back to the bottom of the mountain. We didn’t.
Hey J, I’m glad you were able to get Mama out on the water and that the perchies were there to play. That really should be an ideal spot, as long as the W doesn’t show up.
If you are going to get serious about perchin’, we need to get you a few more goodies. I have some new model jiggies that I think you might like. The perch like them.

I know what you mean about the big W. Both times I’ve been there now, that’s the reason I finally had to stop fishing. Once we found a good spot and got a bouy out, if ya stopped kicking for a minute to rebait a hook or something, you’d be 20-30 feet from it by the time you looked up again. Got pretty frustrating, but the fishing was good enough that we put up with a couple hours of it.
As for the new jiggies, hey, if the perch like 'em, I’m pretty much guaranteed to follow suit. This perchin thing is new to me as of this year (edible sized ones, anyhow), but I’m hooked! Just let me know any time you might have plans to hit Lake X again and I’ll do my best to make it work. If there’s any chance of getting the Mrs. up there, however, it’d probably have to be a Saturday.
Plans might have changed. Current weather shows wind most of the week…except Friday. We want to hit Starvation this week and it looks like Friday is our best option.
Our vehicle will be full but if anybody else wants to ride share and caravan over, all are welcome.

interesting in this case simply meant liitle treasures that you may of been looking for.. such as the silver you mentioned…
..although I am not a geologist I still find it interesting to learn of the history behind things such as mines.. or an Indian mound etc.. for examle.. several years back we went on a cruise to Alaska.. one of the things we did was to go to an old gold mine where they had a movie explaining this huge mining machine that was used in the waterways.. the thing was the size of a building and pushed thru an enormous amount of rock and water in a day.. then last part of that experience was to actually pan for gold.. amazed me how heavy the pans were… like you I imagined being on a rivers edge.. cold water flowing over my hands as I continually panned for gold.. I also imagined how my body would ache after a day of doing this.. the boring repetitiveness of the activity all with the dream of striking it rich…
..we also did a river raft trip down a calm river that went thru the bald eagle preserve.. it was amazing to see these birds of varying ages flying free.. some swopping at us to see what we were.. as they flew directly at us you just knew they were going get us.. :-).. and at the last second they would change direction and go almost strait up.. one time I swear I felt the wind off a huge adult eagles wing as it flew up away from us..
..so interesting in this case is simply a question of did you find what you were looking for and what was it like..
heheh.. I am with your spouse on the snake issue.. not only would I beat you to the bottom of that hill you would have some extra "obstacles’ to avoid on your way down.. [sly]

The weather forecast has been kinda iffy…W for all week. We were talking about trying Starvation Tuesday, but will probably hit Jordanelle instead. That way if the wind comes up, it is not as far to grumble all the way home.

So I fly out Wed and come home Friday. Home for the weekend, and then fly our Monday. Come back Fri night again. Home for the weekend. Fly out Monday and home by Thursday or Friday… Not looking forward to all the flying.
Your arms are gonna get all tired out if you gotta fly that much.
Been there, done that. Spent far too much time on a plane and behind the windshield. But, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. The fish will be there when you get some time.
