Tight lips

So is anyone going fishing anymore? Seems like the number of posts has really gone down lately. Or is it that everyone is just not saying anything because of the crowd they draw off one good report? I know I have seen an incredible increase in late season fishermen on my home waters since my and a few others posts, in fact this last week I seen some really nice bass boats in waters that I figured would be too hard to get such big rigs into. If that is one of you guys out there why dont ya let us know how ya did? We used to never see anyone in there this late in the year in fact there was usually very little fishing after the duck hunt opened. This year the number of fishermen is close to hunters somedays. My last couple trips have been really slow so I’m wondering if others are catching fish and just not saying or is it just slowing down. Anyway tight lines and catch ya later J

I havent been out due to baby due monday seems like my list of things to do gets longer no matter how i try to make it shorter. all this snow is sure makin my anxiety levels go up anticipating some nice ice to poke a hole in though!

Ha ha ha ya this weather is not stopping me from going out side to catch some fish [;)]. I’m actually leaving to go fly fishing now [angelic].

My guess is that we are in between the soft water / hard water season. Most of us have put the boat away and are cruising the internet looking at new Ice fishing gadgets, that we would like for the hard water, and hoping Santa does not look to closely at our past year’s behavior. [;)]. Kinda in between season’s.

Good luck on your new addition that will be more fun than fishing anyway. Then before you know it you’ll have a new fish’en buddy. Good times have fun with them. In the mean time if ya get things taken care of that ice you were dreaming of will be getting closer that’s cold outside tonight. If we get a week of this stuff you may see Mantua start to tighten up. But it sounds like it will warm up a little next week so it’s probably not ice yet. Good luck. Later J

FFL I’m pretty sure most of us figured a little cold weather wouldn’t slow you down. You’re like the twins pretty diehard and carefree and seem to have time to play. Enjoy it while you can. How did your trip today turn out? I took a half hour float and hooked up with a lmb but then my conscience got the best of me and I went home to help my wife. The way the weather turned shortly after I was glad I wasn’t still trying to kick back in the wind and waves. anyway thanks for your input. J

I guess that’s very possible. In years past I would be in the same mode. I was just so busy this summer and fall I didn’t get to fish when it was good so I’m trying to make up for it now. It’s been slowish but fun. I’m still getting a couple every once in a while.

So maybe I need to start a post on which boots to get for icefishing. I heard last year that the Muck boots were great but there’s so many different models I have no idea which one everyone was talking about. Well thank you for helping answer my question. Later J

see my thread. I just wish i brought my float tube because the nice fish were flopping in the middle of lake but no I just had to leave it. As well I might hit some different rivers or maybe a lake all depends.

Not only am I still fishing like every other day at least, but still catching too.

FFL you keep saying you are getting out “fly fishing” (not sure why) but you end up not fly fishing, so why not just say you are going fishing

I actually was fly fishing most of the day I just used regular rod for 10 min caught a kitty let it go and went home.

Did my thread bother you that it said I got bites an a peacock caddis fly in this weather ha ha ha.

You and your carps on fly rods that I can get one on yet ha ha ha.

Ive been a lot lately. But just catching Browns on the provo though town and theirs nothing Specially interesting about that. I’m in between Being on the Boat and Being on the Ice so I catch Browns.

Hey FFL I caught your post and it sounds like you worked hard today. Sorry you didn’t get too many rewards but ya didn’t get skunked so that’s always a good thing. Hey I’m enjoying my toon more and more. If I’m fishing alone it’s my favorite method. TD has figured it all out and I like his method of motation. Well better luck next trip. J

You think there are tight lips on the Utah forum? Try the Wyoming forum. There are about 4 posts a month on that one. Being from the cowboy state tight-lippedness runs deep. Its kinda genetic. There is nothing worse than working hard to find a place and figure out what works, then word spreads and you gotta carry your own rock to stand on after that! I don’t mind sharing some info, but there are places and tactics I will tell no one about. This reply is probably giving you the reaction you’re looking for!

Ya it was fun adventure to get out side in the snow. Some people were looking at me weird because I was in my waders fly fishing. I just wonder what they would say if I was in my float tube ha ha ha. By the way where did u go to catch a bass.

FG I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. But we never hear any of your stories except when you go with TD. But maybe you learned your lesson much quicker than I did so you know better than letting the whole state know where the fish are biting. I guess I still like to know where things are biting and appreciate others stories so I’ll still post my rag tag adventures just to make others feel better about theirs.

I’ll bet a carp that size on a fly rod is one fun fight? Looks like it could be similar to a steelhead battle and I don’t know of anything more fun. Hey thanks for chiming in. Good luck. J

I think there are a lot of people doing the same thing you are, on the different rivers with browns now. I guess most don’t consider a home water trip worth a post and I guess I’m the same way unless there isn’t anything new on here then I may post just to see if anyone is still reading. Seems like lots of interest in reading. Just wish I could catch something exciting to write about. Thank you for helping put the pieces together for me. Later J

Ya know I guess I kind a grew up with that mode of thinking until I went fishing in Alaska and thought I knew what I was doing but my hook ups were few and far between and a guy downstream who was catching reds every cast seen me struggling to catch a couple and he came over to me and showed me the trick and even gave me a hand full of the correct tackle and ever since then I’ve decided thats a much better attitude to have towards other fishermen at least the first day. Now when they are back to push you out every day after it’s not so good. But that’s shame on them not you and carma will take care of you and them. Thanks for your reply I think you’re probably correct on many. Later J

Though this can be the best fishing of the year, it’s also my worst time of year for gas money. Humbug.

I’ve been staying local for three weeks. I posted one report a couple of weeks ago, but there hasn’t been anything too eventful going on.

Just went to the Berry today though.

Report coming.

Alright you busted me. I will type up the 3 days I got out this week right now.

I always love your reports so I look forward to this next one. Thanks J
