I read a post on the Wyoming forum where a foursome caught 45 burbot at Firehole last weekend.

I have heard of a lot of people going ice fishing for these Burbot’s. I was just curious what the apply was? All I know if they sure are ugly looking.
They’re good tablefare (a white fleshed fish) and they’re destroying the Flaming Gorge fishery. It’s thought they were illegally introduced into the Green River drainage and found their way into Flaming Gorge. Right now they’re being caught on the lake trout spawning beds in the gorge where they are feasting on lake trout spawn. They do the same on the kokanee beds. They eat all species of juvenile fish in the gorge and eat the hell out of the crawfish. If you look at the Wyoming forum post notice how big the bellies are on some of the larger burbot. They’re full of crawdads.
good luck on the burbot this weekend. some of my friends are heading that way too on saturday but not sure where they are going to fish. if you would post it on the wyoming board too on the ice conditions. i would appreciate it..and take some pics as well..[fishin]
