THE DAV EVENT REALLY NEEDS YOUR BOAT!

The Disabled Veterans fishing event is only about a month away – August 4th. So far, there are about 70 veterans signed up to go. Here’s the problem; there are only about 6 boats signed up so far. If there is any way you can take one day out of your busy Summer schedule and put a smile on a disabled veteran’s face that will brighten your day for sure, please contact WET1 (Todd Hall) via the BFT DAV Sticky at the top of this forum. Our disabled veterans really need our help.

You can count me in. My boat will take two plus me.

What type of boat? I’m not sure my little 14’ aluminum is disabled-friendly, but am interested…There are all kinds of disabilities - and some of them are not physical. I’m sure that your boat will do just fine, but run it by Todd (WET1) in the Sticky at the top of this forum.

Woul love to but can’t because of a work conflict.

I did it last year, it was fun, I sold the boat tho, if they need any shore help I’d be happy to go.

Please take a look at the DAV Sticky at the top of this forum. They do indeed need some folks for tasks not involving boats.

Count me in! My center console will fish two and I am retrofitting a 35’ pontoon that will accomadate 12 fishermen. I’m building her to fish wounded warriors and others who are wheelchair bound. The possibility exists that she will be ready by then.
Let me know how I can help. Captain Steve Henline, hand in hand outdoors 801 592 7809 henlinesteve@yahoo.com

Thank you Captain Steve, really appreciate your help. The large pontoon boat would be awesome as the one thing I’m wortried about is having enough boats to get all the vets out on the water. When do you think you might know if it will be available or not?
I’ve added your boat info for the center console to the spread sheet.

I think there is a very real possibility that she’ll be ready. I just need to retro the railing around her to come up to USCG compliance. She’s 35 long and 10 foot wide and carries Coast Guard Inspections for 24 passangers and a captain and mate. Very safe and stable.
We are going to add a head and Bar-B-Q. She will carry all safety equipement and be captained by myself or one our our licensed Captains.
Keep in mind that we are building her for exactly these kind of events and we will be able to insure that our veterans can enjoy the great outdoors on the water. We will be dedicating her to full time service towards those goals.
I might need a little help If there are any welders out there that would lend a hand,
Col Brock Mclelan called me this morning inquiring if I wanted to help with your event, but I had already committed to you. God bless our flag and our veterans who have paid the price to keep her flying. Captain Steve Henline

Thank you Sir, that would be fantstic if it were ready in time. That would really help us out with our goal of being able to accomodate 100 veterans.
