Strawberry Ice

Just curious to the ice conditions at STrawberry, Any info would much appreciated

I plan on fishing it tomorrow and with all of the recent snow I am expecting slush. Talked to a young lady at The Strawberry Marina today and she said the ice was still about 25" thick (which is what I expected).

Good luck Kent. Let us know how you do.

Weather has been cold for the past couple of weeks, so I’m expecting the ice-off to be a bit late this year. I would expect mid-late May. The weather is supposed to start warming now, but there is a LOT of ice up there to start melting off. It’s been a long winter…those fish should be hungry.

The ice today was approximately 2 feet thick with many different layers. There is a crust on top that was quite firm first thing in the morning but softened as the day warmed. Wearing snowshoes helped getting around. The snow under the crust is like walking on a huge snow cone. Snowmobiles could get around, but I would not attempt it on a four wheeler. Fishing was good but not great. I caught all of my fish in 32.4’ of water. Tried many other depths but had no luck at any other depth. Caught them on the bottom and suspended down about 25’. The wind never let up today, which wasn’t too bad comfort wise, but made it more difficult to detect soft bites.

Where did you guys end up fishing?

You guys was me, myself and I. We fished around The Strawberry Marina.

Hey kent, you think I could putt around on the snowmobile out there. If so, is there any week spots I need to worry about?

Please reread my post I already answered your question. As far as weak spots, because I was on foot I would have no idea where the weakspots are (if any). You could call The Strawberry Marina and ask them.
